THE LAKER ROUND LAKE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Round Lake, Illinois Underclassmen 70 Administration 6 Faculty 18 Seniors 28 0 • 0 Hello Gorgeous! Music 114 Spprts 122 2 SCHOOL SONG Oh. let all schools that stand throughout the land Put up their banners proud and high. We will extend to all a friendly hand: The bonds of friendship let us tie. But out of all the schools that fight for fame. There’s only one that will remain: And that is Round Lake, Round Lake. Here’s to you We will not fail you. maize and blue. Hit ’em high! Hit ’em low! Go, team, go But when they take the roll of fighting schools, They’ll find there's one above them all. For it is maize and blue that proudly rules. Before our colors, all will fall.—FIGHT! With great pride and gratitude, the Laker staff would like to give a final dedication to the retiring superintendent, Mr. Roy J. Forehand. Mr. Forehand has given forty-nine years of his life to education of children, twenty of them right here in Round Lake. He has always been an administrator as well as a teacher; in public schools in Wisc.onsin for twelve years as he began his career. He then served as county school superintendent at Medford in Taylor County for twelve years. It is at this time we would like to thank Mr. Forehand for his years of hard work here at Round Lake and wish him good health and prosperity in the years to come. 4 50 YEARS As the notation on the photo indicates, this is the first consolidated school in Lake County. For the second time since graduation members of the Class of ’35 have been brought together through the efforts of Virginia Nelson Smith. And when pictures of the present building housing the fine arts department of the Round Lake School system were taken it was discovered that the information over the busy doors noted that it had been in operation since 1922—thus it has given fifty years of service. Bottoms up! 137 THE BEST OF FRIENDS 138 There is a popular song that asks the questions, “How can you mend a broken heart? ... How can a loser ever win?” Those words have been very common at Round Lake High School over the past years. In the “72-73” school year someone finally an- swered those questions. That certain someone was actually more than one person, it was a group of people dedicated to one cause, and that cause was to bring Pride back into the spirits of the students of Round Lake. The “72-73” Panther basketball team devoted their time and ability to make an impossible dream come true and in the end they succeeded in their efforts by being crowned champions. There was no one individual who made the team all it was, because each player certainly gave all he could give-and what more can you ask of anyone? For the first time in eleven years the bleachers were packed to capacity, and the fans finally knew what it was like to joyfully leave a game with a very hoarse voice. The sensation was something that cannot be forgotten. We at Round Lake High School owe the Pan- ther Champions so much, for they have given us something that is priceless- PRIDE. Indeed, the Panthers have mended the broken hearts... and made us win. We salute them! By Jim Corda GO WRESTLERS! Left to right: Linda Olsen, Mary Young, Karla Shuth, Kathy Quinn.
