Laker Staff HF ind Something to dof, That is what the members of the Laker staff hear from both its editor and its advisor. The staff's motto is to keep busy, and that's not hard to do for there's always plenty of work to be done. Many people do not realize the work and effort put forth by those who make their yearbook. They don't know the long 'cextrav hours spent after school and some nights just to be certain each picture is in just the right spot and each word of copy is written as it's meant. The staff knows it is necessary to work these extra hours because this annual is a book of wonderful memories recorded to last forever. Sometimes they don't like working but they always enjoy it. They enjoy the feeling when the book is finely roduced, of resentinff it to its readers and sa inff, That's our book. I hel ed P P o Y zz- P produce it. STANDING, Left to Right: Jo. We, the Laker Staff of 1963, present this book to you as a constant reminder of a year's activities at Round Lake High. We hope our work and effort to preserve the memory of these activities will be rewarded, if only by a moment's pleasure. No matter what is the walk of life in which we may find ourselves in future years, a glance at this book may lighten our labors by reminding us of both happy and sad events. To do this would truly deem our yearbook worthwhile. As you recall occasions never to be forgotten, we hope you will, also, recall the work and thought included on each page, all for your enjoyment. We hope you experience the enjoyment we, the Laker staff, did for almost a year as we now present to you our cherished yearbook, The Lakerf' Sincerely, Rosemary Colofit and Linde Legge MISS Donna Busjahn, Aduzsor Table of Contents Administration 6 15 Seniors Activities 37 I 5 7 Organizations Sports i 73 if J J 87 U nderclassmen F i- ,Q 5. was fggivxy + , sf: Admlmstratwn Administration Roy J. As the school year drew to a close and the Seniors looked forward to commencement, their last official act as members of Round Lake High School, they could look back over the last four years with satisfaction. They had left their mark in the annals of R.L.H.S. The Seniors have been an active class from their Freshman year. Many of them have been outstanding members of our athletic teams, while others have worked hard on the Prom and Winter Formal. Also, the Seniors have innovated changes in the school clubs and organizations. But even with their many activities they never forgot why they were going to school: to educate themselves and become responsible citizens in a growing com- munity. High school was only a short part of their lives, but one they will always remember. - Seniors . .m. ,,,, !Af'9:fi153?5,g? , 'Q ities? sa if-is i -x. GENE R. The curtain rises when the chorus of Contadine is preparing bouquets of flowers in order to win the favor of the two Gon- doliers who are coming to choose their brides. After Marco and Guiseppe choose Tessa and Gianetta as their brides, the two boys tell their wives that one of them is to be Queen of Baratariag and, off they go to discover who is king and who is queen. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Plazo-Toro bring their daughter, Casilda, and Luiz, the drummer, to Barataria to claim the throne. The Duke states that Casilda was wed to the heir to the throne of- Barataria when she was an infant. Casilda, who is to marry the king, either Marco or Guiseppe, is really in love with Luiz. Then enters Inez, the king's foster mother, to tell who the real king is. She informs everyone that the rightful king is Luiz. All ends well when Luiz and Casilda are again united, Marco and Guiseppe are happy too because they remain married to Tessa and Gianetta. 42 THE QUARTET OF GON- DOLIERS - STANDING, Left to Right: B. With five promising juniors and a returning senior letterman, Round Lake compiled a 4-14 won-lost record. Glenn Waters, the only senior starter, had his best year, leading the club in shooting percentage. Dennis Carter fteam top scorerj and Bob Miller fsecond in scoring and assistsj teamed up throughout most of the season for a 1-2 scoring effect and plenty of valuable rebounds. Injuries hurt the Panthers, with Carter out of the first three games with a broken finger and Miller missing the last five due to a knee ailment. Three other juniors, Mike Bosinski fleader in assistsj, Jim Beyer fone of the top reboundersl, and Dennis Price fteam ball handlerj completed the first six. Defensive problems were rather noticeable during the year, but by next year these should be worked out to the point of a winning season. The 1963 version of the Frosh-Soph had an off year, but the season was not without bright spots. Future Varsity material here gained valuable experience while having a lot of fun playing basketball. Even though Coach Schleg may have seemed a little exasperated at times, he really enjoyed coaching this year7s team and looks to see them do better in future seasons. I S. To complicate matters we were immediately faced with the problem of preparing an entry for the Homecoming Parade. After much haste, we produced our first school project. Our Sophomore year was more organized, and we again entered the Homecoming Parade. ln the middle of the year, we held our St. Patrick's Day Dance on March 17th. The Junior Class started at a fast pace this year in organizing the Homecoming activities under the leadership of Linda Heppner, our Parade chairman, and her committee. The Parade was enjoyed by all. Our class float took a first place prize. We are now undergoing a series of money-making plans to sponsor what we hope will be Round Lake's most remembered Prom. We feel we have accomplished much in the years past and we will strive for continued success. Juniors N, ,V 9 Q. xx it Q J. S. D. M. K. D. M J. R. S. J. C. Our Sophomore class began the year with our Homecoming float. The theme for our float was Wauconda Under De Feetf, After a considerable amount of hard work on the float, our class proudly accepted second place. During the year, we sponsored two soc-hops, one on January 25th, following a basketball victory over Ela Vernon. The other soc-hop was the annual Sophomore Soc-Hop, the Irish Shindig, held March 15. We are anticipating an active and interesting year to come. Sophomores D. Airola C. Amenson D. Anderson J. Angeloff P. Auvil ,qw E. Babiarz J. Baldwin R. Balser R. Banulis W. Bauer 4. .gf 3? J. The Freshman Class this year stepped right into the swing of Round Lake High School activities. The Homecoming Parade brought a third place to this group, with the theme, We'll Rule Over Them. After a busy holiday, a freshman sponsored sock-hop started the new year. The cold winter ended, project planning began once more, and the annual Freshman Class Dance was held in the Spring. Before they knew it, that wonderful first year was over, but not forgotten. Freshmen . . . J. Adams C. Aldin M. Allen G. Amedio D. Ancheta S. Angeloff J. Baczek K. Baron J. Bechelli A. Beese R.
