A person we met and got to know this year is Kim Folkmann. Kim has learned the ways of people of the United States while teaching us some of the ways of people of Den- mark. Kim enjoys working on me- chanical machines. He also enjoys farming and working with animals. He has learned a lot about these areas by living on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Bud,' Friend, parents of David Friend. Kim likes American films and has seen a lot of them on T.V. and at the movie theater. Kim also likes playing pool and pinball. Kim has learned a lot about us and our ways. But we have also learned a lot about him and through him we have learned about Europe and Denmark. Another person we have come to know this year is Marja Schrey. She is living with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Moose Mosson. Marja lives in Finland. She loves horses. She is also very active in sports. While staying in Rossville, she participated in volley- ball, basketball, track. Marja is out- going, and was able to quickly adjust to life in the United States. There is one thing that we all know whe will miss when she returns to her home . . . pizza! Marja has also taught us a lot about her country and we hope she has learned a lot about life in the United States. 952556 yy X - X ' Q cf-xy. PM . 4 W ,bw 'd QW gy 534525 My Ezfgk ff? The hard pre-season conditioning and sore muscles gave the Hornets the advan- tage against many of their opponents. The varsity ended their season with ten wins and seven losses. They placed third in the Midwest confer- ence. Captain Missi Metzger lead the team with 225 spikes, 37 kills. Ma- linda McKinley contributed to the at- tack with 188 spikes and 27 kills. Me- lissa Miller lead in serving with only 8 errors in 115 serves. Angie Hufford was second. Melissa and Angie were very important because they set the balls to the spikers. HOR ETS The l98l-82 basketball season was a rewarding one for the staff and team. With four ofthe first six players graduated from last year's team and a new coach to become accustomed to, this year's squad had a long period of adjustment before developing the team play and consistency desired. However, after losing six of the first eight games, the varsity won nine of their final twelve games and finished second in the Midwest Conference. proving they had jelled as a unit. A 68-66 loss to Frankfort in the section- al brought a halt to a very memorable year. Lynn shoots for two H-lim SUCH for thc hall. Each home- room group acts as a political party and candidates are chosen by means of petitions. The two top vote getters from each homeroom make up the 12- member advisory council. The Coun- cil meets usually once a month with the teacher advisor and the principal to discuss ways and means of making the elementary school a nicer place in which students can learn and grow. Much leadership practice is gained by the council members that should prove useful to them as they continue their education process through high school.
