Yes, there were snarls and tangles in the lines of Consolidation—one such was the most advantageous utilization of the buildings owned by the townships. Many taxpayers recall the meeting scheduled by the Board early in 1961 to propose the abandonment of Owasco and the transfer of fifth and sixth grade stu- dents of the three townships to Owen. This plan, as a consequence, called for three elementary schools, grades 1-4, one in each township. The newest of these structures is in Ross Township, dedicated in 1956. Junior High patrol boys, who have assigned posts at street intersections each morning and evening, provide safety for these grade school youngsters. Pictured above is the Pyrmont grade school building, Rossville grade school building, and the three safety patrol boys--Vernon Hitch, David Dyer, and Steve Fines.

How We tftwe I Su emtmied Yes, you were one of 771 when you enrolled in Ross- ville Consolidated School District on August 26. Whether eager, indifferent, or actually opposed to the idea, you did come. You have found, if you were one of the 371 in the junior and senior high school, that the consolidation still is in the process of change. At least, now we have our own superintendent, Mr. Charles D. Frazee. Hired as principal for the school term 1959-1960, Mr. Frazee in the interim completed work for his superintendent’s license. As the first superintendent of Rossville Consolidated School Dis- trict, Mr. Frazee combines with this office that of principal. His duties are like the statement at the close of a sale bill - “too numerous to mention.” Though high school girls serve as office assistants, the pose of Mr. Frazee typing is a fa- miliar one. Too, Mr. Montgomery and Mr. Wolf assist with attendance and discipline in the junior and senior high respectively. Mr. Montgomery operates from his class room, but Mr. Wolf found a neglected corner and transformed it into an office. As vocational instructor Mr. Wolf moved his class- room to the southwest corner basement room of the west building. His office is the south half of the small room to the east. Oh yes, the art room is still there (and at Christ- mas it looked like Santa's work shop.) Though his office is small and not centrally located, Mr. Wolf handles all high school attendance there as the lower picture indicates. Mr. Wolf is also guidance director for the junior and senior high school. Shifting all fifth and sixth grade students of the Con- solidation to Owen and centralizing all the seventh and eighth grades at Rossville necessitated the redistribution of library books. Mrs. Rodkey has had a busy year, sorting, mending, cataloging, and shelving these books. Conversion of the ramp between the two buildings into an audio-visual center has been part of the library’s development.
