Time is but the stream I go a- fishing in. --Henry David Thoreau Larry Andrew, assistant editor Larry Rodkey, business manager, Don Hufford, editor This edition of the LARS attempts to mirror the 1961 segment of time as it records the growing pains of Rossville Consolidated School District. A rural school area (no town can boast a thousand inhabitants), this consolidation of educational facilities has been one of natural evolution. To paraphrase Thoreau’s quote, Rossville Consolidated School District is a stream so small that it doesn’t deserve the name of a creek, just Campbell’s Run. When Owen consolidated its schools, it chose, as Rossville had. the environs of this small stream. So the first division of the book fldnuMdwtiori is prefaced by a picture of Owen’s veteran principal and the school he has served for thirty-one years out of his total tenure of forty-seven. Smou and Udmimmi use the scenic beauty of Clay Township to introduce their sections. Guuk return to the banks of Campbell's Run with a nostalgic scene, go upstream to Langston’s pit in Owen. utilize the ball diamond framed by a backdrop of trees on the banks of Campbell's Run. And now let us join the editors as they have gone a-fishing. To those who treasure the memories of days spent along Campbell’s Run, the catch will truly be significant.

Me tduujk A Mfude o( A 'TtoMm, Mitk wuffOiiaUott Gene Milner, who rides from Owen Township seems to be headed for the bus again. Too many girls? --well, maybe not such a big whale. Rossville Consol- idation has fifteen routes, the longest of which is thirty- three miles and the shortest, seven. However, no student travels longer than fifty-five minutes on a bus. Of the fif- teen bus drivers in the Conso- lidation, Clarence Malaska is the veteran, having driven for seventeen years. Although our transportation problem evoked thoughtful consider- ation on the part of the Board, it wasn’t nearly so serious as that of most consolidations. . Halfred Mortsolf. Iotl Catron, Harm
