Now it has stepped back to make way for another structure, and to serve only as a iunior high. This arrangement offers many advantages to the students of the iunior high in that they are not lessened in importance by the upper classmen. They are given a better chance to exercise their own initiative. Now instead of turning out its graduating classes of seniors, Ross Junior High will be sending forth students well prepared to enter the halls of the new senior high to continue their education. Thus, this building will never cease its important task of preparing young people for the future. Ross High Alma Mater Hail the Giants, Hail to Ross, May the breeze our Banner toss. See our colors, loved and fair, Streaming in the evening air. Lo, the western sky aflame, At the praise of thy dear name. Thro' the twilight shadows dim, Faint, sweet echoes of this hymn. Alma Mater, hail to thee! True and loyal hearts have we! Well we've loved thee in the past, Still we'll love thee to the last. FAREWELL FROM THE SENIORS We, the senior class of 1959, have the distinct honor of being the first class to graduate from this new school. We will always remember the fun cmd good times we've experienced here. We'll remember the first hectic week while we got acquainted with the building, becoming just as confused as the underclassmen. We enioyed initiating the Little Theater with our play, The Barretts of Wimpole Street. Many memorable experiences arose from this class pro- duction. We were glad to have a part in showing our school off to the pub- lic in other ways too. The open house nights and the dedication gave us these opportunities. Our class has worked well together and we have derived a great deal of pleasure from everything we have done as a whole. Although we will probably never be together as a complete class again after Commence- ment, we will always remember and reminisce about our wonderful days in our last year of high school. As we go into the world-whether it be to col- lege, iobs, or military service-we will reserve a place in our hearts and minds for our Alma Mater. This energetic organization added to many school activities: To start off the year, they sang for the dedication of the school. We all remember the Candlelight Christmas concert held in the new gym. The choir also sang at the library and for the Whirlpool party at Christmas. Individual members sang at the District ll Choir Festival in Gibsonburg and at the Choir Festival in Delaware, Ohio. The big event of the year was the Buckeye Conference Choir Festival at our new high school in April. Tofinish the year, the choir sang for the Baccalaureate service. A one, a two ,,,.. Flashing their instruments, they presented many new intricate drill routines and clever half-time shows. Members themselves will particularly remember the conveniency of the practice field, the march to the stadium, and the ceremonies at the last game. Our snappy marching band under the direction of Jack Stierwalt assisted by Walter Sells was truly a credit to our schoolthis year. Following football season, the group presented several concerts under the direction of Walter Sells with Jack Stierwalt as assistant and played at the district and state band contests. They were hosts for the Buckeye Conference Band Festival and presented a concert with the choir in May. NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE Looking back, we remember how active this club was. The mysterious Miss Hall Monitor and the morning pep talks which stimulated interest in the magazine drive were highlights of the year. This club represented Ross High in the District Prince of Peace contest and won high ratings and honors in many speech contests around the state. ln January, they sponsored an individual events tournament in our new school, they climaxed a very active speech year with a banquet in May. . ,K V I ,gi14Ag.MkK T , i A' c I ' A af'-'i wr 'V .s .-f s W t K ,Q 5 I i I -b ,Z . il' .. New facilities and a new instructor seemed to inspire Art Club members to attempt many pro- jects this year. SOPHOMORE MAGAZINE Every year the sophomore class tries to top the preceding years' sophomore booklets of original stories and poems written by the stu- dents ofthe class. By way of improvement over previous magazines, this year's edition was printed by a publishing company instead of being mimeographed. Many hours of plan- ning and organization were poured into mak- ing the finished product something of which to be proud. Reviewing the activities ofthe Spanish ll Club, we realize that they had a successful and interesting year. Skits, play- lets, reports, games, and songs in Spanish helped the stu- dents to understand the language and to learn about the fascinating customs, history, and daily life of the Spanish- speaking people ofthe world. They had two parties-a Christmas party and a Spanish Banquet. At the banquet, the president ofthe club acted as toastmaster, and everyone enioyed a 'full course Spanish dinner while listening to Spanish music and being entertained by Spanish skits.
