As we, the seniors of nineteen hundred and fifty-six, leave the halls that have been our home for six years, we can only wonder what lies ahead of us. For some of us, there will be college: for others, military servicep and for another group, the entering into the world of business. We feel justly proud to say, l was graduated from Ross High. We feel that our teachers have taught their lessons well, and we leave our high school pre- pared to give our all to whatever we do, that we may find the happiness and security that everyone seeks from life. Ross High Alma Mater Hail the Giants, Hail to Ross: May the breeze our Banner toss. See our colors, loved and fair, Streaming in the evening air. Lo, the western sky aflame, At the praise of thy dear name. Thro' the twilight shadows dim, Faint, sweet echoes of this hymn. Alma Mater, hail to thee! True and loyal hearts have we! Well we've loved thee in the past, Still we'll love thee to the last. Tis education forms the common mind 6 --AK' Q., +5 Enter to learn go forth to serve. . lust as the twig is bent, the tree's inclined. -Alexander Pope Highlights of The Year September 12 School Began 15 Thurs. Mr. Robert Seele, a familiar figure around school, has very capably filled this position of Ross High's first Dean of Boys. His job is not an easy one as he is responsible for the boys in all six grades. Bettering teacher-pupil relations, counseling with boys about grades and vocations, and just generally being someone they can turn to when they need help are the jobs of Mr. Seele. ,Nga V NH? CSR? 2 Q MISS THELMA HUGHES Visiting Teacher Miss Hughes works mainly with the girls of Ross. She keeps records of their attendance and truancy and is always available for counsel when troubles arise. Bettering relations between the home life and school is also an important part of her work. You have tried your best to teach us, Now we're on our Way. To the teachers we're so thankful, F or the lessons we have learned. To the luniors, Sophomores, Freshmen, We say carry on. We can ne'er forget the dances, Nor the good times that we have had As we pass into the world, May we all tind happiness. Grant that we may be successful, ln all that we try to do. May our lives have been influenced By our years with you. New the curtain's slowly drawing On our Senior Year at Ross, Soon will be the great Commencement Ot the years that lie ahead. We've enjoyed our years at Ross High. We've enjoyed the fun we've had. Now this day will be the last That we,will spend with you. So good-bye, good luck, God bless you, Carry on, For our dear old Ross High. John Lambright J Del B th Betty Hasselboch Raymona Cooper Mr H t Being a Senior has really been wonderful! Oi the many things We will remember oi our high school career, topping the list will be our Senior activities. Nothing promotes a feeling oi closeness in a class more than working together, which our class has done remarkably Well. Though We may never again see some of our classmates after Commencement, We will always remem- ber them when We take a few moments to reminisce about years gone by. Band That very cold looking boy you see coming into the building at ll:3O carrying a horn case has just returned from an hour's long, cold practice on the football tield tor a Week's band show. Making Wrong turns, scrambling to get into position, and be shouted at guide right, get in step, and think Where you're going, are all in an autumn days work tor the average band member. Then the last football game comes and goes and 82 weary musicians and two wearier directors move inside tor the long hours rehearsal preparing tor concerts and contests. Those Weird and not too easily recognized sounds that come from the practice rooms all seem to blend together to make the Ross High School Band one ot the top musical organizations in the State. The National Thespians find themselves being struck by falling scenery, tripping up make-shift steps, making late entrances, forgetting lines, losing props, and doing all sorts of odd things before they finally come up with their finished product. A few Thespians even come to school at 7:30 a.m. to attend dramatics class. However, while the kids suffer for their art, they also have a lot of fun and find a real feeling of satisfaction when their plays are produced before an audience. Those who are not on the staff never cease to be amazed when they enter the office to find the editors busily correcting proof or making up the dummy. Then too, there is always the scramble for a last minute story which is too im- portant to be left out, even though the deadline is near. This work and more too, is all a part of keeping the student body informed of the news or chatter around school. Gathering advertising and making sure merchants get good space is no small part of the work performed by the advertising managers while the business managers smoothly complete the task of dis- tributing the paper.
