football Colored by a spirited march ing band, the football season of 1954 proved to be an exciting one. After a slow start the foot- ball team began to roll and kept on rolling to an Oakland B Co-Championship. In league play, the Wildcats lost only to Avondale, with whom they were tied. In the Homecoming game Roseville opposed Madison, and won 18-0. The last game, a victory over Fitzgerald, proved to be the one needed to win a share of the title and 3 out of 4 championships for Roseville in the Oakland B Standings. All of these titles were won under the commendable coach- ing of Mr. Leonard Dalton.

As the homecoming parade wound down Eleven Mile Road, loyalty filled the hearts of the R. H. S. student body. Two major questions occupied the thoughts of all. Who would win the game? Who would be homecoming queen? After an exciting first half, the Band took the field. Following an entertaining half time show, the Band, with royal fanfare, ac- companied Queen Esther Mayo and her regal court of Judy Neu- man, Helen Moore, Carol Harrison, and Mary Ann Kucharski to the fifty-yard line. Now the secret was out and everyone knew who was queen. The final half brought the crowd to its feet with shouts, as the team roared on to a thrilling victory. the crowning event . . . -45-
