33 1131 111 'Ja iem-Gid . Within these walls is a spirit that should never for this is our school, Roseville High. Spirit is only a word used in sports, but goes much deeper than that. It is the heart of our school, the will to learn. Without this our school would have no meaning, for no opportunity to learn yourself for the future. As our class de- parts from Roseville High School, we leave behind a pattern of footprints represent- ing our success, our disappointments, our pleasures, and our hardships, for we have spent a major portion of our life here. Like footprints our experiences at Roseville High will have upon our mem- ory an indelible impression which we will always carry with us through life. As you now turn the pages of our 1962-'63 Rosette, you will remember all the fine activities taken place this year. DecUc tfCott We, the Rosette Staff of 1963, wish to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Ralph Waterhouse. At the beginning of each school year, he faces the untiring task of guiding the new Freshmen in the right direction. We are extremely grateful for his encouragement and enthusiasm at the times when our zeal was gone. For this, through our years at R.H.S., we thank him. MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Jon Woodward and Jackie Noce MOST POPULAR Bob Bargar and Judy Dawson MOST FRIENDLY Judy Dawson and Bob Bargar DID MOST FOR THE SCHOOL Jon Woodward and Judy Dawson The day has finally arrived at last and we are ready to graduate and see what lies ahead for us. As we leave these four wonderful years at Roseville High School, we have many memories, many of which will never be forgotten. We'll never forget our first day and how scared we were. That year there were 78 of us. Our advisers, who were so nice in helping us during our first few weeks, were Mrs. Ballantine, Mr. Carnes, and Mr. Curl. Our class officers were: Jon Woodward, President; Craig Watt, Vice-President; Marsha Williams, Secretary; and Pat Fletcher, Treasurer. We chose pink and black as our class colors. We elected Phyllis Morgan as our cheerleader, and we chose Darlene Koehler as our homecoming attendant, who had Craig Watt as her escort and Terry Bell for her driver. Don Wilson and Jackie Noce were elected to the Rosette staff. We chose as our class colors, blue and white. We held our annual Junior Variety Show in November and everyone enjoyed participating in it. Next, we sold magazines to help raise money for our Senior class trip. In April, we presented our Junior Class Play, HOLD THE PHONE”, which was under the direction of Mr. Crady. During football and basketball season, we sold calendar pencils to help put on the Junior-Senior Prom. One of our members, Mike Hartley, was chosen to be a delegate to the Buckeye Boys' State. The biggest highlight of our Junior year was putting on the Junior-Senior Prom. We all had a good time getting ready for it. The theme of the prom was Sentimental Journey . Everyone was tired after working so hard, but they still enjoyed themselves very much. One of our members, Jon Woodward, was elected to the first team in basketball, in M. V. L. Bob Bargar was Co-Captain of the baseball team. SENIOR As we entered our Senior year, we had 52 members. We had the usual things to discuss----pictures, caps and gowns, name cards, invitations, and of course, the class trip. One of the big days of this year was being measured for caps and gowns. Our advisers were: Mr. Mentis and Mr. McDonald. We chose as our class officers: Bob Bargar, President; Tom McGee, Vice-President; Sue Ford, Secretary; and Don Wilson, Treasurer. We sold R. H. Now as we 52 Seniors prepare to graduate, we say goodbye to our teachers and classmates and to all the good times we spent together during our four wonderful years at Roseville High School. We have wonderful memories of these four years which will linger and linger for years to come. As we leave this school for the last time, we only hope that the future will hold success for us in whatever we choose to do. We have not only had fun these last four years, but we have also learned a great deal, and the time has now come for us to put this knowledge to work as we leave this wonderful school and enter the world out- side of school. ---Jackie Noce--- 21 Clan TV ill63 We the members of the Senior Class of 1963 of Roseville High School, being of sound minds, do hereby make public and declare, this last will and testament: ARTICLE I To the Class of '66, we leave three more years to gather many memories and much knowledge. Don, would you like to announce some of the fulfilled ambitions of our former classmates? Well, Mike, we'll start right here with the last of our classmates coming in now. It's Head Coach JON WOODWARD of the Cannelville Coal Miners' professional basketball team. Coach Jon is famously known as Hardwood Woody . Alright Mike, let's mosey over to the far corner where that group of people is and see if we recognize any of the gang. Well Don! Here we have the same old high-school gang known as the Ridge-Runners. In this gang is RAY SIMMONS, now a bartender in Cannelville's main bar called Ray's Prey . Here we have the Novaria cousins, RODGER and BRUCE, who are proprietors of the Cannelville Coal Miners, Inc. We might as well roam over to the next table to reminisce some old friends. Mike, did you see those three women ride up on horseback? Yes, I believe they were KAREN HINA, FAYE CAVINEE, and JUDY DAWSON. That's right, they went into partnership on a big ranch out west in Saltillo. They are known in the Rodeos as Karen Ridem Hina, Brendo Cavinee, and Stirrup Dawson. Say! Mike, who are those two guys making all the disturbance over there in the corner? I think they are IKE Morsly HENRY and GREGG Elly FOLDEN who are comedians, working in Ray's Prey at Cannelville. Don, have you seen the two Cannelville bovs, TOM McGee and BOB BARGAR? Yes, you mean Blacksheep Bob and Blacksheep Tom. Well; they are up in Mr. Waterhouse's room catching up with their homework. Gee! all those years. Say! Mike, who are those two women sitting across the floor? I believe that they are JANIS EMORY, and JUDY BLAUSER. Jan is now a dancing instructor at Twinkle Toes Dancing School , and Judy is the private tutor of Hardwood's four children. Judy feels that those four are all she can handle. Isn't that PAT DUNLAP and LINDA LIGGETT owners and managers of Zanesville Health Club? They specialize in weight lifting. The receptionist of their club is DARLENE KOEHLER who made it through business college. Don, over there I see RITA WATTS and SHIRLEY THOMPSON who own the cafeteria at the Prancing and Dashing Hilton Hotel in downtown White Cottage. Say Mike! Isn't that MAX RUSSELL, owner of the Piggly-Wiggly Super Duper Market. I believe the people that came in with him are STEVE MAXWELL, No. 1 Stockboy, JERRY WEAKLEY and DAN SHRIDER No. 1 pickle-packers in the Pickle-Packing Department. There I see LARRY JENKINS who is now a space pilot for Trans-Water Airlines. When he gets altitude sickness, he drinks Alka-Schmeltzers. Beside him is KAROL VALENTINE who is revising Karl Marx's famous edition of the Communist Manifesto. Why there's FRED Polleat POLEN and DON Ruffles RUSNAK. These two are now prize fighters doing most of the fighting between themselves. I see Fred walks around most of the time with a black eye. I wonder if he gets those from Don or from his wife, the former Francena Nolan. 24 I heard that BOB COMBS is working for the Pottsylvania Railroad. His position is trestle maintainer. It seems he got interested in trestles while in high school. His favorite pastime is playing basketball for the Boston Celtics in Bob Cousy's position. Good luck Bobby. DARLENE FLUHART and JOYCE ALLARD are now co-proprietors of Orky and Porky Corky Cork Factory. As you have already guessed they manufacture corks which Darlene and Joyce found of good use in high school. While reading the sports section of the Roseville-Crooksville Gossip Gazette, I saw where CRAIG Fireball WATT is now driving a new 409 3 4 Chevy at the National Drag Races being held at Midway Speedway. The Midway Speedway is located midway between Roseville and Crooksville. Craig’s mechanics are the old high school grease-monkeys, EUGENE Chatter HARNEY and JIM Slim CHR1SLEY. Did you read the part on the sports page that told about the Cannelville Coalminers basketball team's win over the Roseville Rose buds ? I guess SUE FORD and PATTY PLETCHER are still the cheerleaders, aren't they? Did you see the large semi-tractor and trailer in the parking lot? It is owned by FRED Newt DUNN and TERRY Bookie RAMBO, who are the owners of the F R Trucking System. Referring back to the sports page, i saw that GARY Hook TODD has recieved a position as head basketball coach for the Roseville Rose-buds . 1 hear a squabble. Why it's HARRY STRICKLER who is now Colonel Harry Strickler of the Air Force and Lieutenant DAVE BRYAN of the Army arguing which is the better. Don, did you see the big old man over in the corner wearing a straw hat. It is PAUL HARPER who owns a large farm out west called the Kenny Hoss Farm . I see several women over there who are JANE BARR Frash, LINDA BARBOUR Nykile, SHARON WILLIAMS Ashfor, and STELLA ANGLES Mclnerney. They seem to be comparing husbands and discussing money. J962 Sectio-tal The Ramblers'baseball team of 1962 played exceptionally well for what was expected of them at the beginning of the year. The team entered the tournament with a record of 13 wins and 2 losses. They played two games after the tournament. In the County Tournament the Ramblers'first opponent was the Tornadoes from Hopewell. This game was an easy one, the final score being 25-0 in favor of Roseville. The game was halted in the 6th inning. Bob Bargar pitched a two-hitter and was backed up by the hitting of the entire team, including a grand-slam home run by Rick Wilson. Bob also hit a homer. Roseville defeated Jefferson 9-0 to become County Champs. Bob Bargar also won this one, pitching another fine two-hitter and striking out nine enemy batsmen. Bob helped his own cause by going 3 for 3 in the batting department. Then to the Sectional Tournament the Ramblers proceeded. They played Fort Frye, coming out the victor 6-1 as Bob Bargar turned in a sparkling one-hitter. Bob helped his own cause with two hits and Vern Wolfe contributed a double. Rosecrans was the next victim of. Roseville as the Ramblers downed them 3-1. Rick Wilson and Vern Wolfe set the pace with two hits apiece as Bob Bargar tamed the Bishop bats with a fine two-hitter. . _. i This gave Roseville a share of the Sectional Championship with Newport as the two teams advanced to District play. In the District the Ramblers met a hard-hitting West Lafayette team. This spelled defeat for Roseville 5-3. Roseville could manage only five hits as West Lafayette collected ten. Mike Inman and Vern Wolfe collected doubles despite the loss. Bob Bargar received the pitching trophy with a record of 7 wins, 2 losses, and he also had a tie. Bob also got the batting trophy by batting .351 and playing a fine defensive field game. . The team is losing only two seniors, but they played fine ball. They are Rick Wilson and Ronnie Maines. The managers for the year were Mark Hendrickson, Jim Shaw, and Tom Naragon. ... The final record for the ’'62 Ramblers was 16 wins, 5 losses, and 2 ties, because of darkness. Roseville outscored their Mark Hendrickson, Tom Naragon, Jim Shaw Managers opponents 151 to 70 for 23 games. . , Roseville has won the County Championship 5 out of 5 years while compiling a record of 6 wins and 24 losses. This, has been made possible by the hustle of the boys, and the fine coaching of Coach Justin A. (Casey) Dantonio. AB H AVG. AB H AVG.
