RIVALRY GAME On October 25th Rosemead played one of its traditional rivals. Arroyo High School. Over the years Rosemead had won I5 games out of 26 from Arroyo High School in this rivalry series. This years game featured Arroyo. a team that was not only undefeat- ed in six games but ranked in the top three teams in the local area. Rosemead's team had one week earlier beaten El Monte and were hoping for an upset of Arroyo. The Panther defense played well forcing an Arroyo fumble early in the game but the offense was unable to score and with only one minute Arroyo scored on a touchdown pass to lead at the half 7 to 0. Coming out in the second half. the teams both stymied each other and were unable to score. Rose- mead's defense played superbly. consistent- ly holding Arroyo while Rosemead's offense was unable to mount an effective drive. Ar- royo went on to score a field goal in the closing minute to win IO to 0. Rosemead was successful in holding Arroyo to its lowest point total of the season and could take pride in playing well overall. par- ticularly on defense. l' Here we come to save the day! 2- look mom. no cavities! 3. NVASIO GF THE BLEACHER CRE TURE At Rosemead, the largest pep assembly we have to kick off the new school year is the Big R . The assembly generally promotes spirit and energy throughout the student body as classes unite to cheer on their graduat- ing year. During this assembly, fall sports including Football, Tennis. and Cross-Country teams are an- nounced. The auxillary, ranks, and cheerleaders gave us a fine performance. Our mascot. Patty Panther, made her debut during the assembly. She is full of spirit and en- thusiasm. Patty Panther gave us a wonderful perfor- mance during the pep assembly. She is a great addition to the terrific cheering squad of Rosemead. What did the students think of the Big R ? As Chris Jimenez put it, I believe the assembly had its good moments and it will get better as the years progress. Judy Solis quoted, The assembly was fun except for the seating arrangement. It would have been much better if we got to sit with our graduating class. Royce Campo- manes had this to say, The assembly was good but I think more people should get into the Panther spirit. Nancy Ho says, I thought the 'Big R' was fun especially having to get out of class and joining my friends in cheering for the class of '88. I. What time is the game? 2.
