Vein ittg Varsity Football under the direction of Coach Jim Ellis went Through league play losing only one game, and that one to Arroyo, by a score of 20-6. Arroyo went on to win the league championship closely followed by the Panthers who tied with the San Gabriel Matadors. Lead- ing the Panthers throughout the season was Joe Cortez, line quarterback, gaining yards running and passing. Cortez was selected from the Rosemead squad for the All-Sierra League first team, the All-District first team, All-San Gabriel Valley squad, and for third string All- C.l.F. Varsity quarterback Pat Murphy feeds an opponent a mean fore-arm. Chosen Co-Captains were Carl McCauley and Larry Green. The Outstanding Player award went to Gordy Brown, who will make a fine Varsity prospect in the years to come.
