Few people realize that no play in the history of Rosemead could have been produced without our Thespians. They sponsor all the drama productions and supply full stage crews for them. They also have much to do with the direction of many plays at RHS. This year they sold rooter buttons and ribbons for their money-making pro- iects. They put on an award winning play, entitled Ladies of the Mop . They produced the ninth annual Variety Show, Dreamsville, at the El Monte District Auditorium, December ll, 1959. The presi- dent this year was Connie Ensign. The National Thespians this year were, Row l: S. Jackson, N. Bondy, M. Mitchell, B. Vander Heyden, K. Killackey, C. Ensign, C. Pettit, S. Lyon, M. Sarnowski, G. Grimes. Row 2: G. Stevens, T. Molina, I. Miali, G. Van Valkenburgh, L. Gray, K. Gabrielson, R. Starman, J. Miller, G. Brunson. Vemssitrg Club Townsend, T. McEIligott, D. Ludolph, M. Rollon, B. Barker, P. Cushing, J. Cortez, G. Gibson, D. Loomis, D. Casino, W. Jeu. Row 3: G. Barnes, F. Gomez, L. Bryant, G. Stahl. Approximately fifty of Rosemead's fighting athletes make up the Varsity Club. Their presidents this year have been Joe Cortez, first semester, and Ken Hirose, second semester. Besides composing the maiority of men on our Varsity sports teams these boys other ac- tivities as a club include having ushered at all our assemblies, supplying a rooting section at the basketball games, patroling the halls at noon. Varsity Club also co-sponsored the Winter Ball in December and played in the first Faculty-Varsity Club Basketball Game in February. The club is co-sponsored by Coaches Jim Ellis and Don Porter. Members of the Varsity Club discuss plans for the Faculty Varsity Club basketball game.
