Pepperettes raise their hands to participate in active dis- cussion ofa club problem. 82 Each year Pantheresses is one ofthe more active clubs on campus. First semester president was Darlene Rowe and for second semester it was Joyce Meek. Among the club's activities is the selling of candieol apples each year to which they added this year the giving of baskets to needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, presenting an act entitled Essay in the Variety Show in December, serving at the faculty Christmas party. As if these wouldn't have made them busy enough, Pantheresses also decorated for the awards banquet, held a contest to find Mr. Ugly from which they donated 3512.87 to the Foreign Student Fund, co-sponsored the Valentines Dance Cupid's Capers with Hi-Y, and played in the annual Pantheresses-Sagaths Basketball game in March. Having a membership roster of one hundred girls makes Pepperettes, the newly-formed girls' pep club, the largest club on campus. Their LX- first semester president was Barb Vander Heyden who did much to organize the club, while Libby Wire was president during the spring semester. Some of the many activities the Pepperettes par- ticipated in this year included the community Halloween Parade in October, supplying card sections for the football games and pam pom sections for the basketball games and publicity for both foot- ball and basketball games. For their proiect during Foreign Ex- change Student Week in February, Pepperettes sold popcorn balls and were able to donate 315.45 to the fund. Sponsor of the club was Mr. Bill Gallagher.

Members of Key Club take time out from their usual club meeting to share a joke. The Key Club has been especially active this year. They started off the year by combining with Hi-Y and selling programs at the foot- ball games. Every Thursday afternoon they sent two bowling teams to the league games in bowling. Also on Thursdays two boys at- WM wggxqm M tended meetings of the local Kiwanis Club. Each year the RHS Key V-Msfcge . '41-s Club takes several field trips to local industry and tour their premises. In April Key Club sponsored their annual scholarship drive in which the boys go door to door asking for donations to enable them to attain their goal of 5500. This money is given a qualified Senior who has been selected by the counselors and the Parent Teachers Association Board. Those participating in Key Club this year were, Row 'l: R. Grover, J. On December ll, 1959, Orchesis, the girls' dance club, was awarded a trophy for the outstanding sportsmanship they showed in pre- paring for the Variety Show. During the second semester the girls worked very hard practicing for the assembly which they presented before the student body early in the spring. The clubs first and second semester presidents were Julie Bowman, and Irene Lasswell, and the sponsors were Mrs. Tackett and Mrs. Zide. During All Nations Week Orchesis sold chances for a ielly bean guessing con- test in order to earn money fo rthe foreign exchange students which we hope to have here next year. Sagaths always have busy meetings with much to discuss. Sagaths, a girls' service club made up of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, participated in a variety of activities this year under the leadership of their first and second semester presidents Marianne Oram and Robbie Roberts. During the year they sold rooter buttons all through thefootball season, in December they combined with the Varsity Club to present the annual Winter Ball. At Thanksgiving and at Christmas Sagaths served their community by donating food In baskets to needy families. For their act, The Greek Muses , the girls won the trophy for originality in the Variety Show, December llth. To raise money for the Foreign Exchange Student Fund and also for their treasury Sagaths successfully sold See's suckers. There are two Spanish Clubs on the RHS campus, one comprised of first year students taking Spanish and the advanced club whose members take second and third year Spanish. The president of the first year club, Los Guachos, during the first semester was Heidi Michaels. Under her leadership the club held a Pinata Party for the benefit of the Foreign Exchange Student Fund in February, and had a Mexican Dinner. Donna Baird and Sandy Jackson have been the two semester's presidents of the Advanced Spanish Club, Zorilla.
