Lgvio Club Some of the Lyric Club's many activities included singing for the P.T.A. Council, the Thanksgiving and Christmas assemblies, and the Spring Sing. They ended the year by performing in a Music Festival at Hollywood High School on June 4. Officers presiding over the club first semester were: Esther Gonzales, president, and Diane Booth, vice- president. Second semester officers were: Billie Cole, president, and Kaye Lower, vice- president. l Singers all, were these members of Lyric Club, Row l: S. Ross, E. Gonzales, L. Devereaux, B. Cole, J, Primrose, L. Jolley, S. Houdridge, D. Baird, K. Lower, H. Michels. Row 2: D. Boothe, D. Sisley, L. Croteau, C. Childress, J. Schorr, M. Scales, J. Crain, L. Purcell, Z. Hallett, E. Hernandez, Miss Gertrude Kleekamp. Chansons The Chansons was a newly or- ganized girls' s in g i n g group d-uring the first semester only. The group was composed of Junior and Senior girls whose main purpose was to sing for fun. This group, whose name means French Songs , per- formed twice between Septem- ber and January. In October they sang for the Girls' League Mother-Daughter Dessert at El Rancho High School and in Dec- ember they had an act in the Variety Show entitled Dreams . Always happy to sing were these members of Chansons, Row li N. Coyle, C. Pettit, R. Briggs, Row 2: L. Greene, L. Gibson, J. Meek. Row 3: J. Krall, L. Manfredi.

Those in the cast were: Mrs. Savage, Sandi Jackson: her three children-Lilly Bell, Kris Gabrielson, Samuel, Mike DeCarbo, and Titus, Buddy Barker. Guests with Mrs. S were, Fairy May, Bonita Flowers, Florence, Donna Sisley, Feff, Tom Akers, Miss Willie, Dolly Snelling, Mrs. Paddy, Donna Perkins, and Hannibal, Lowell Huddleston. Emmet was played by Doug Smith. Peter Aschwanden, school artist, success- fully designed programs and posters seen around campus prior to presentation of the play. Egads!! She's had the bonds in that confounded bear all the time! Presented this year as the llth annual All- School Play was, The Curious Savage. It was the first school production directed by the new drama instructor, Mr. Lee Blatt- ner. All who attended the play, held the night of April T, thought as did Connie En- sign, production stage manager, that it was fabulous, The play tells the story of Mrs. Savage, a widow, who is sent to a rest home linsane asyluml by her three devoted children after Mrs. S takes SlO0,000,000 out of the Savage Estate for her own pur- poses. The youngsters think she might be mentally unbalanced. This rollicking farce continues as the children try to get the money back. Melle mas

Row 2: D. Smith, L. Gibson, R. French, R. Manfredi, and E. Hernandez. 1 The Men's Glee consisted of, Row I, W. Stevens, D. Vienna, J. Clements, L. Beyer, T. Sands, C. Fedder- sohn, B. Hayes. Row 2: R. Nash, G. Tumanello, J. Norman, N. Cirocco, J. Sellers, R. Woernel, and S. Roberts. rl The members of the Sunbeams this year were, Row 1: J. Vienna, L. Clausen, J. Primrose, S. Hould- ridge, S. Seabolt. Row 2: Miss Kleekamp, D. Smith, E, Hernandez, M. Scales, L. Croteau, and D. Boothe. Meidviigels This year the Madrigal Singers performed at many P.T.A. meet- ings, the Christmas Assembly, and for a Kiwanis Installation Dinner. They also did very well at the Solo and Ensemble Fes- tival at Los Angeles State Col- lege. Mews 63-llee This year one of the accomplish- ments of the Men's Glee was performing in the Christmas as- sembly. Although they per- formed only a few times public- ly, they strived for self-improve- ment in the field of music. Sunbeems The Sunbearns were very active this year. Their main achieve- ment was winning the Curtain Act trophy at the Variety Show. They also sang at the Solo and Ensemble Festival at Los An- geles State College.
