Garlen ,lain of jvents 5 T 'my -me ak Students ioyfully come to school at 8:40, after a long bus ride. Several special. events highlighted the first semester of the school year, T959- l96O. During the first week of school, Associated Student Body cards went on sale with coolie hats given to the first four hundred and fifty purchasers. There was also a terrific get-acquainted dance at the end of that week, ' entitled Rhythm 'n Chopsticksf' Through the football season we had many pep rallies which exhibited the enthusiastic spirit the students had due to the s-uccess of our winning Varsity team. Then as the season drew to a close we had our an- nual Homecoming Dance made even more exciting because of our defeat of San Gabriel in the Homecoming game. Starting our Thanksgiving vacation off with a bang was the annual backwards dance called the Wishbone WiggIe sponsored by the Girls' League. .' I4 N'bJu'n X1f 74.0-.-, Officers of the Girl' League for the spring semester were, Row li B. Caplette, president, H. Mueggenburg, vice-president, J. Mendlesohn, treasurer. Row 2: B. Thomas, parliamen tariong G. Peterson secretary. Every year the Girls' League sponsors the Thanksgiving Dance, this year was no exception. They sponsored the Wish- Bone Wiggle, which was backwards. At Christmas-time the Girls' League Council gave a food basket to a needy family, and decorated a Christmas tree in the school foyer. ln Febr-uary the Girls' League sponsored a Female Express Day . Awards were given to the boy with the largest harem and to the boy whose harem wore the most original outfits. The proceeds went towards our foreign exchange student proiect fund. The Girls' League also sponsored the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet in May. 47

Students found it necessary to come here many times during the year for supplies, tickets, and many types of orders. ou les at the annual Homec Many Alumni are seen among these c p Mistress of Ceremonies, Connie Ensign looks on as Mr. Mauk receives plaque for work done in Variety Show. Show where On the llth of December was the Variety many of the clubs entered acts. At this Variety Show, themed Dreamsville, trophies were won by Orchesis, Hi-Y, Sagaths, and Spinsters. The day before Christmas vacation was the annual Winter Ball, December Dreams, the only all-school formal dance of the year. The beginning of Christmas vacation also marked the end of the boomi-ng Pantherama sales leaving everyone in great anticipation of receiving their annuals in June. The end of the semester saw everyone caught up in ' ' d cramming the whirl of excite for final exams. rl H ment of election-time, an oming Dance.
