SANDRA ZIDE Modem Dance Archery Modern Dance Modern Dance Trim Gym Exercises, posture and activities that can be used after graduation are points of stress in the Girls' Physical Education Department. This included a posture contest in which all girls participated. Especially planned courses are taken by the freshman and sophomore girls. These include: basketball, volley ball, soft- ball, and speed-a-way. The iunior and senior girls have a choice of programs including tennis, modern dance, swimming, golf, and a combination of trim-gym and archery. The department also offers a modified course in physical educa- tion. Heading the department is Miss Lois Stevens. MISS GERTRUDE KLEEKAMP Department Head A Cappella Choir Much practice is necessary to perform successfully as these girls in Lyric could tell you. Music Under the direction of Miss Gertrude Kleekamp and Mr. Conner, the choral groups: A Cappella Choir, Lyric Club, Men's Glee, Girls' Glee, and Girls' Chorus have performed in assemblies, for the parents and teachers, at music festivals and concerts. The MR. CLARENCE CONNER Band Panther Band has performed in the football games, assemblies, parades, and concerts, This has been another successful year for the Music Department -under the supervision of Miss Klee- kamp. Everyone has enjoyed listening and seeing the students in the department perform. Panther Band practices under the direction of Mr. Conner. Always keep your eye on the director, is one rule these girls follow, 29

Under the clrection of a top-ranking coaching staff, headed by Mr. Bill Sims, the male portion of our student body, better than 900 boys, experience a variety of sports activities. Among these activities are: football, basebal, handball, soccer, basketball, swimming, wrestling and a testing program which includes gymnastics, track feats, and agility. The facilities ofthe Boys' Physical Education Depart- ment have been given maximum use this year due to the large number of boys participating and be- cause national, state and local attention, being focused on individual development and accom- plishment.
