Z' Concentration is very important in all Math courses Subjects included in the mathematics program this year were the usual courses in lower math in addition to algebra, geometry, and advanced algebra for college prep students. Accelerated classes in geometry and algebra differed this year in that they started during the second se- mester, whereas last year they were held for two semesters. Advanced algebra, trig, and ln- troduction to College Math were again offered to advanced students, enabling them to gain valuable knowledge through an added learning tool - a calculator. This machine gives students practice in programming, a valuable skill in the use of electronic computing devises. Attending the annual math field day at Occidental College were interested students from trig and College Mcfh classes. Taking over as head ofthe Mathematics Depart- ment was Mr. Carter Dennis. The nurse's staff with the help of student help girls, are able to give examinations of the ears and eyes, give small pox and polio shots, vaccinations, chest x-rays, and physicals. They check on absentees from school and those who return to school from having been absent for a number of days. Students who come in for headaches, earaches, stomachaches, sore throats, sprained fingers, sprained wrists, sprained toes or sprained ankles, are sure to receive the very best of care. The Nurse, her assistant, and the aides work closely together to provide us with efficient medica facilities.
