Every Bee record was broken except the 50 yd. freestyle record, belonging to Don Loomis. It should be pointed out that three of the seven meets J Q 'f lost by the team, were lost by one tenth . A of a second. The remainder of the Bee T team included Leroy Smith, Carl Walper, Captain, Bob Smith, Bob Fuller, Larry Green, Larry Ford, Al Shusko, Price Sloan, Walt Harris and Jim Hanson. ' Bob Cummings Bill Ankery The Cee Swimming team made a sweep for Rose- mead in the Sierra League, as Championships were chalked up by the football, basketball, track, and swimming teams. The Cee swimmers defeated Azusa, who was undefeated in league competition, to end in a tie for league honors. lt was a team victory as the meet was won by the two relay teams. ln the medley our swimmers broke their own best time by five seconds. Vai veit 5 Coach Gambril and Gene Shusko, Manage' Coach Don Gambril's Varsity Swimming team ended up' the dual meet season with an ll-3 record. They were undefeated in the league. They brought the school its first Varsity Swimming Championship. At the time of this publication the team was still looking forward to the climax of the season. Several swimmers are slated for all-league honors and at least two for C.l.F. recognition. Terry Mclilligott and Nick Kirby led the team during the season. ln fourteen meets McElliaott was defeated only once and this at the hands of the C.l.F. champion and record holder. Kirby was undefeated. Other out- standina Varsity Swimmers were: Captain, Chad Buford: Don Loomis, Steve Severy, Paul Wienold, Dick Pfeiffer, Wally Manning, Chuck Cummings, Pat Cushing, and the Varsity Divers: Wavne Azmpardi, and Don Vance. Every Varsity school record was smashed this season. We have every right to be proud of our swimmers not only for their League Championship, but also for their exceptional win- loss record, sportsmanship, hard work, and great showing at every meet. Beezley, Q. Anderson, D. lgl. Row Bill Gallagher, M. Marshall, E. Dunagan, B. Wingate, J. Townsend, M. DeCarbo, B. Zwick, B. Slaser. The wrestling squads of RHS had a very successful first season. Out of ten matches played they lost five, won four, and tied one. All other schools that they competed against had had at least two years' experience. The Panther teams placed 5th and 9th in C.l.F. competitions. Forty-two boys out of an original forty- five who started, finished the season. Each of the boys wrestled according to his weight division. There are eleven different weight classifications. The top boy in each division automatically became a member of the Varsity team and the remainder I I r.. .... dn-'-,Z , Spectators view a tense moment between opposing 4 wrestlers. One team-mate pins down another in this rough- and-tumble sport of wrestling.
