'H s,,,g, ag-,,.. ,- Lowa cdf at Ffisnzsrzfwz u fi n The new building for our elementary school children will be in complete readiness for the I950 51 term It has I6 classrooms health room teach ers work room library book room principals office and a combination activity hall auditorium Complete new furniture will be installed ln six rooms to accommodate the first three grades Other rooms will be equipped with new furniture as the schools finances will permit lockers for the students as well as bookcases and teachers cabinets The floors of corridors classrooms and auditorium are covered with beautiful tile The building is also equipped Wlth an inter communication system program clocks and bells lt will indeed fill a great need in the community and we are sure that everyone will be justly proud of this outstanding addition to our school system Congratulations to our school board to the community and to Mr South for this good work for the school children of our town Don Smith of Sweetwater is the architect Von Frellic -lr of San Angelo was the general contractor Kasch and Son of Big Spring installed the plumbing Bevis Electric Co of Taylor did the electric work I f , , S T ... y L-L!L 5 All the rooms are finished in beautiful pastel colors, and equipped with IA! Our class wasnt organized until in the second grade when Malcolm Ham mock and Betty McBride transferred from the big school of Brownlee Darlene Davidson who began her education in Abilene and ames who is the only member that has gone to school all the time in Roscoe yomed us in the second grade We had a room in the hugh school building with Mrs Swearengen as teacher We were promoted to the fourth grade from the seconlzl not because we were intelligent but the twelve year system was adopted Patsy Pointer from Blackwell and football hero Phil Haynes from Fluvana Mrs Lowe was homeroom teacher but we were still lucky or unlucky we had four more other teachers umor Hendricks our class president invaded Roscoe from Pyron made our class just a little bit nicer ln the fifth Miss Talley was teacher Sonny Turner from Pyron and Richard Sauer from Highland made our class just a bit nolsler Mrs Hastings was teacher our sixth year Seventh grade with Miss Hopper homeroom teacher Glenna McDougle enrolled from Sweetwater ship from Hermlelgh Maretha Freeman from Hale Center and lmmy Hyde from Carlsbad completed our class Mrs Ansrl Hendricks teacher Next fall and all green Freshmen Betty Lou Fltzhugh from Ft Worth and Sonny Scale from Highland somewhat improved our class Dorothy Altom Joined our class this year she started at Roscoe but moved to Dal las after the first semester Donnie Nichols from Collmsfleld Charles Richburg from Pyron moved to Roscoe during our Sophomore year with Miss Worthy as sponsor As all students look forward to their umor year we did also Francis Copeland from Abilene Mary Parks from Sweetwater Dean Oliver from Colorado City and Glenna McDougle who rejoined us after a two year absence spent m Kansas completed our junior class Mrs l.. G Anthony was sponsor the first semester and Mrs Moe Hedrick the second semester Dlgnlfxed Seniors! As we prepare to leave high school, we wish to leave with the student body a few of the things that have macle our school days more pleasant. Darlene Davidson wills her glasses to Melba Snyder since Melba can't seem to find a pair that will fit her. Sonny Turner wills his curly hair to Cecil Buckner. Glenna McDougle wills her loudness and giggles to Wanda Martin. james Wilkins wills his serious disposition to Edward Cleckler. Francis Copeland wills her grace and poise to Melba Freeman.
