ASR Lights Way Lighting the path of the Good Ship Roosevelt as it steamed toward New Horizons, the ASR added many new activities in the i959-60 school year. A ninety-eight per cent sale of student passes financed ASR activities. Among the new projects begun under the New Horizons theme were Lock Your Locker Week, ASR Week, featuring the ASR Constitution, a visit to Roosevelt by Santa, Homecoming Week, discussion of an Honor Code, and a series of lectures on current topics by prominent speakers. ASR traditions were continued through the annual Orientation As- sembly, Color Week, andthe Traditions Assembly. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Bell, new activity coordinator, the ASR officers, cabinet, and student council worked to keep Roosevelt's student government running smoothly. Corresponding Secretary and Student Coordinator of ASR Committee Chair- man were two leadership positions added to ASR government this year. Advisory Council worked to create a new atmosphere -one which was more friendly and which put the emphasis on helping rather than on punishing. Primarily, it handled smoking and study hall problems.
