,Af ,- s ,ips I Jack Isaacs announces the l959 Football Carnival Queen Diane Lqngicmo, f' il Y Rallies School spirit, laughter and noise are important ingredients of rallies. ln charge of all school spirit boosting proiects at Roose- velt was Jack lsaacs, student body vice- president. With the help of the award win- ning band, yell leaders, rally girls, major- ettes, bermuda girls, and other students and advisors, Jacks rallies succeeded in spirit- ing the football team on to many victories. This year at Roosevelt, there have been extra rallies due tothe willingness ofthe students to plan and support them. Several rallies were held at lunch. These noon ral- lies, which filled the cafeteria, proved to be the loudest. A victory rally, commemorating Roose- velt's victory over Fresno High School in the Little Big Game, was held in the auditorium, making possible the attendance of all stu- dents, The main attraction ofthe rally was the traditional pie thrown in the face of Fresno High Schools student body president. .,...w,-+'-W ' Mil-ce Dyer, yell leader, and his assistants deliver yells at a rally . -

' ii E ii 1 2It.j:?.alifii l Louise Stude and Sue Hamerstrom posed as Howdy at games and rallies. - 15 - Howdy Week Not Hi, Howdy, was the theme for Roosevelt's traditional Howdy Week, cele- brated during the second week of school in coniunction with the annual football carni- val. To acquaint new students with Howdy Week, an assembly was held. At this assem- bly candidates for football queen were in- troduced. Diane Langiano, senior, received the crown. Other candidates were .loy An- derson, Mary Niswander, Sue Blacet, Peggy Derrick, Emogene Olson, and Karylee De Young, all seniors. The Football Carnival rally held onthe last day of Howdy Week took place the day ofthe carnival to boost school spirit. The football team and Howdy, Roosevelt's mas- cot, were presented to the student body at the rally. Highlighting this eventful week was the annual football carnival. Although Roose- velt didn't win the carnival, the team beat Edison High School and tied with Bullard.
