When someone asked where a certain room was, he usually would find himself heading in the opposite direction for his destination. But problems like these were few. Lunch hour brought the big headaches. The cafeteria was a scene of confusion, the like of which is seldom seen. A mad scramble for the limited number of seats was made. This cafeteria is the second larg- est in the state, and there still is not room for all the students. The lunch line extended outside the building. blocking the doorways. Stairways were crowded for the first few days. It seemed that everyone was trying to use the same stairway at the same time. On several occasions, students had to walk single file through the halls so that each one could make their next class in the seven minutes. This is exactly what happened here at Roosevelt during Howdy Week. Howdy cards were handed out by members of the Senate to all the students to be worn the first week of school. An assembly was held on the second day of school to speed up introductions by ac' quainting students with their new student body officers, class sponsors, and new teach- ers. Mr. Robert Miner, our principal, 'gave a big welcome to all the new and olcl students. Un the last day of this special week ii rally was held to acquaint the new students with the friendly spirit for which Roosevelt is noted Howdy, Roosevelt's mascot, was presented to the student body. Topping Howdy We-ek was the annual football carnival. Highlighting this event was the Rough Riders winning over the Fresno High Warricwrs. Although we lost the carnival, this win seemed like a perfect ending to a perfect week.
