SILVER ANNIVERSARY CLASS 1928 -1953 CLASS PLAQUE CLASS HISTORY Senioritis, a disease diagnosed by hundreds of lead- ing doctors as common among a high school's spring graduating class, has been contracted by exactly four hundred and ten diploma seeking seniors in the Roose- velt High School. This not so seasonal affliction is more contagious than measles, but more fun than anything. Sufferers may easily be recognized by their highly held heads, tilted chins and walking on air manner. They can be found before school congregated in little groups busily discussing anything from the draft status to the newest fad. Everyone will notice that all the high important offices in school are controlled by these agony stricken sufferers. When thinking back to the time when they were con- sidered underclassmen they are sure to say something about their successful rendition of One Foot ln Heaven. They would also be sure to mention some- thing to the tune of, their play The Man Who Came To Dinner is the best ever given by a graduating class and that their senior prom is 'lShangrila, only in suc- cess to the Spring Fantasy they planned during their Junior year. Symptoms of this universal affliction are numerous and begin early in the ninth grade. When the resist- ance is lowered by the first dance in the Rider Ritz or an algebra exam the victim is sure to contract this malady before long. If by some unknown miracle he manages to escape this ailment while still in the ninth grade by the time he becomes a sophomore and learns about transitive verbs, gets his first dip in the swimming pool, moves to the administration building and finds himself no longer a freshie he is sure to be hooked. When the long awaited day draws near and every senior is measured for his cap and gown all have fi- nally succumbed to his fate, senioritis. Until the day when four hundred and ten hopefuls spread their wings and leap from the windows on to the graduation platform each senior will find himself the victim of this wonderful affliction. Graduation cures all ills and commencement day will bring ,to a close the four happily spent years at Roosevelt and open the road to a shining future to these ambitious young graduates of the class of I953. The seniors led by Wesley Allen this year, Pete Riley in their iunior year, and Lee Bergthold in their sopho- more year give proof that the class of l953 has con- tinually had the pick of the crop when it comes to leadership. Numerous other '53 class members have taken responsible leadership duties in varied clubs and activities.
