R. O. T. C. Wifh one hundred and forfy-one cadefs en- rolled af fhe beginning of fhe ferm, fhe Roosevelf R. O.T. C. unif sfarfed an evenfful half year of work. The rosfer included fwenfy- eighf boys in fhe R. O. T. C. band, wifh eleven officers, fiffeen sergeanfs, and fhirfeen cor- porals in direcf command of fhe hundred and forfy-one cadefs. This ferm fhe baffalion held fhree parades wifh fhe fwo companies com- pefing for an honor sfreamer. Silenf drill feams of officers and non-commissioned wifh speakers on R. O. T. C. affended many frafer- nal organizafions such as fhe Fruifvale Mason Eagles, Sevenfh Aerie, and auxiliary Fruifvale Woodmen and Neighbors of fhe Woodcraff. Two junior high schools, Garfield and Bref Harfe, were also visifed. Speakers in R.O.T.C'. were Capfain Roberf Nagel, Sergeanf Bill Zock, and Corporal Roberf Regan. The P.T.A. of Garfield wifnessed fhe drill. Roosevelf R. O. T. C. parficipafed in fhe Armisfice Day parade along wifh five ofher Oakland high schools. Affer fhe parade a free lunch and foofball game were enioyed by fhe cadefs. Officers and non-commissioned oFficers held a meefing every Wednesday nighf fo discuss plans and problems of fhe R. O. T. C. A compefifive examinafion of officers for fhe posifions of colonel, lieufenanf colonel, and adiufanf, were given during fhe middle of fhe ferm wifh John Avellar receiving fhe second highesf posf, execufive officer wifh fhe rank of lieufenanf colonel. The lasf five weeks of fhe ferm were spenf by all cadefs sfudying fheorefical subiecfs. Subiecfs by fhe sfuclenf officers were milifary organizafion, courfesy, discipline and muskefry, firsf aid, scoufing and pafrolling, map reading, and confesf principles.
