Throughout Vicki's twelve years at Roosevelt, she has been active in many organizations and sports. She was chosen because of her friendliness and sincerity. Ed, a student at Roosevelt for five years, has certainly fit right in. I-le has been involved in sports, FFA, Student Council and various other activities. He was chosen to represent Roosevelt at Boys' State. Ed was chosen for his outgoing personality and involvement in school affairs. SENIORS LIVE YGUR MGMENTS The Senior Class of 1980 spent a tremendous amount of time and energy earning money for the senior class trip. For the first time this year the Senior Class worked in both high school and junior high school football concession stands. Along with this project there were trash hauls, a raffle, a movie, Pro-Keds Spirit Shoes sales project and the painting and upkeep of the parking lot. All of these efforts netted 32,928.81 which was for the Senior Trip to Six Flags for Senior Night. About forty seniors and their sponsors departed Friday morning and returned Sunday afternoon. This year's Senior Class left a special gift to the school, a beautifully mounted Eagle. The class paid for the refurbishing of the Eagle and its case. This Senior Class of 1980 was cer- tainly an outstanding class. Besides being honored as Miss RI-IS, she was also chosen Best Dressed. Vicki's winning smile and pleasant dis- postion have made her a favorite among her peers. I6 Mr. and Miss R.H.S. Iohnnie Adkins, is by far one of the most admired and best liked Seniors to represent the school. His leadership and dependability, his friendliness and school spirit are only a few of the attributes which made it easy for fellow stu- dents to elect him Mr. RHS. Vicki Davis and Danny Rocha were chosen as having the nicest appearances and most stylish clothes. With such variable weather it's hard to always appear nice and neat. but Vicki and Danny seem to have succeeded. Best Dressed seems to be their forte. V ,ft X Barbara Mann and Danny Gillit were chosen by classmates as Most Athletic at RHS. They were given this honor because they have both taken an active part in athletics, and shown skills of an athlete. Being outgoing and energetic as well as spread- ing that energy to others were what earned Andrella Ned and Billy johnson the title of Most Spirited. t Mft! ' . F , T X. It wonder that these are two of the most seniors. ere 18 Who's Who Chosen as Most Dependable were Donna Taylor and Ken Ramsey. Both were very active in various school functions and when something needed to be done -- one could depend on these two to get the job accomplished. If there was a doubt in anyone's mind that something couldn't be done, you could leave it to Kelly and Bart to prove them wrong! If you ever saw two people hiding around a corner until the hall was clear of people, it was probably Becky Gaona or Feliciano Romo as Most Bashful. However their bashful smiles were always warm and welcomed. Who's Who Possessing the characteristics of kindness and consideration were a rare quality found in Toni Roberts and Bryan Sherrod that earned them the title of Most Courteous, t 20 Who's Who Ls tw? it Who's Who is an honor bestowed upon certain mem- bers of each graduating class. This year's Freshman class is second in enrollment with one hundred students. To get the bank account started for an eventual senior trip, the class sponsored a movie and earned S250.00. Along with sports come events such as UIL Science Contests and the Literary Events. Band is an important part of some stu- dents' lives and concerts are presented during the school year. This spring many eight grade students took part in a very successful walkathon for the March of Dimes. A field trip to the Texas Tech Theatre was enjoyed by the eighth grade Speech class. These are but a few of the activities these students participated in during the 1979-80 school year. It is the final year in elemen- tary school and that indicates a new beginning the next school year as junior high students. Because of these factors sixth graders spent the year doing a vari- ety of things. Perhaps one of the most important events was UIL. Those going to UIL in spelling were: Steve Sides who placed 4th' Brad Raven Bonnie Dunlap and alternate LaDale McCallister. Oral readers representing the 6th grade were Donna Cillit lim Miller who placed 2nd Michelle Wyatt and alternate Iill Clark The softball contest between Mr Bonds s and Mrs Davlss classes ended in a tie The sixth grade had a fantastic time at their end of the year field trip by going to the Skate Machine Smile, you're on candid camera. 54 Sixth Arellano, Irene Ashton, Debbie Ashton, Tracy Barnes, David Beaver. They are attentive to the needs of the school and strive to make things better. To keep parents on top of coming events, THE EAGLE CONNECTION is com- piled and periodically sent home. The annual Halloween Carnival is always a success. It's always a blast to dunk your favorite teacher in the tank. This was the second year for the Christmas Shop and the children found lots of neat things to buy their special people. This club deserves a unanimous vote of appreciation. In the high school the Booster Club does a terrific job of keeping up the morale of the student body. Each year the members provide valuable time to the school. An Ice Cream party is held for all the football teams at the beginning of the season. And soon after that there's a I-lot Dog supper for the teams and community. Basketball season finds the club man- aging the concession stand during games. But that's not all - contributions are made each year to the Roosevelt Stock Show and the Special Olympics. Anyone can see this club provides a great deal- and the school says Thank you. To earn money for various needs the club sold posters, stuffed ani- mals and had a talent show. That was a first! In the spring several members who had earned enough points were accompanied to Houston by Mrs. Curry, stand-in for Mrs. Perez, sponsor. Those attending were Terry Wiley, Andrella Ned, Peggy Blackwell, Brenda Timmons and Belinda Arredondo. Teacher Appreciation Day was held in the spring with students taking over for half-a-day. The teachers enjoyed this as well as the good food supplied by the members. A banquet at Western Sizzlin topped off a suc- cessful year forthe club. Q .... THE REVILLE This year's REVILLE was once again the recipient of several newspaper awards awarded through UIL. Several editions were different this year - one being the Christmas edition with lots of colorful pages - literally. The last edition was put together entirely by the staff without the watchful eye of Mr. Eudy. The REVILLE is a very important part of our school's life. It keeps the student body up on current happenings as well as reminding us of past graduates and the latest events in their lives. It is truly a great source of information around Roosevelt School and we appreciate it.
