gg J.' ,, ,jj A , J X.,-N . X , t 1 . -- -.... Students of Roosevelt Schools: It is a wonderful feeling to know that we live in a country with such prosperity as America offers: to enjoy its freedoms, privileges and security. These things we enjoy because our fathers and fore- fathers worked and suffered to make them possible for us. Our pos- terity will be privileged to enjoy such only if we work and sacrifice to see that America remains free and strong. bet us not be guilty of taking these things for granted, acting as though our country owes us all these things, but rather let us ask What do I owe my country for the blessings that I enjoy ? Let us be good Americans so that this country may ever be the wonderful place which we know it to be. You can do this by making every effort to equip yourselves to be citi- zens, who not only enjoy, but contribute to the American way. Congratulations to the Annual staff for this splendid book. Through your leadership we are privileged to enjoy the memories of your school days. Your work on this Annual has been a job well done . Sincerely, Marvin 'Williams Superintendent Superintendent, Always on the The job of being superintendent calls for an extremely busy schedule, but Mr. Wil- liams finds time in between his numerous activities to teach a class and to inspire students in their pursuit of worthy endeav- ors.

1 ' if J gli iii! Miss Frances Weeg To express our gratitude and to celebrate our sales record, the annual staff gave a surprise party at Miss Weeg's house and in her honor. She was a gracious, entertaining hostess. Shown above are Miss Weeg and part of the annual staff. The cake read, They said it couldn't be done! The deli ht- ful little girl at the right, being fongly cuddled by Miss Weeg, is Buff, the daughter of a roommate. Buff had nothing to say but good about Miss Weeg, and it was evident that she would fight anybody who had anythin different 8 to say. Buff said that she and Weeg were Pals. Dedicated - for Her Service and We wish to dedicate this 1966 Eagle to a teacher whom we feel is one of the most deserving persons in our school system. An English teacher, the annua staff advisor, and the sponsor of the National Honor Societ --Miss Wee sacrifices her time ang ener ies to ielp 8 the Roosevelt Student body. She has no pets, and her professional creed is one of fairness and equality. She de- mands the very best that a student can achieveg her standards are high and at times seem unattainable. School is a serious business to her, and her class- room is one of order, strictness, and ed ucation. On the outside she may seem stern and heartless, but as students pass through the doors of R. H. S. , they look back, and remember her with deep re- spect and an almost reverent devotion. The Other Side of ci Very Wondegful Woman . . . There is another side of the teacher that few students take the time to discover. After hours she becomes a woman of tenderness and sentimen- tality. She loves animals, especially horses. As a youth she was an active rodeo participant, and she still feels that blue jeans are the only kind of clothes to wear. In her spare time, Miss Weeg plays the Spanish guitar and sings. Her conception of the perfect eveninrg is the music of Ray Charles, a warm ireplace, and a good book. At present, her only ambition is to obtain her Masters' Degree and to conquer the language of French. Miss Weeg loves to abble in hobbies, especially when it's artistic. She is a very generous person, and despite her crowded class- room schedule, she takes the time to save cigarette packages to give to the foundation for the aiding o the blind. lf a student is observant, he will notice a smile sneak into her facial expression sometimes even a laugh. She has a heart of gold. Once when asked by an English IV class why she didn't attend graduation exercises, she replied, Because I knew I would cry.

Whether irbe in your studies, sports, band, or building an annual such as this one, if you have done the best you could with what you had to work with or play with, you can hold up your head in the pres- ence of any one and be proud. May I congratulate the student body for making this such a pleasant year. To the Seniors of '66, I wish for you the best of everything in the years that lie ahead. To the others, we look forward to having you with us next year. Congratulations, Seniors, Annual Staff, Teachers, and students for a job well done. A. E. Smith, Principal
