Dear Students,
What you and millions of other students are doing
in the classrooms today will be reflected in the suc-
cesses or failures of civilization tomorrow. The peace
and prosperity of the World, the way of life we dream
of, will not be a reality unless you prepare yourselves
to help in bringing such about. As you grow in stature,
may you grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Thanks to each of you for the cooperation you have
given to make our school a success.
Best wishes,
Marvin Williams

I 954- '5 5
On May 20, 1965, at the Roosevelt High School a very important activity took place. lt was the homecoming banquet
of the 1955 Senior Class. As we recall these happy memories, we can see the changes each student has made since gradua-
tion night, ten years ago.
C. T. Bessent now owns a very popular night club, La Casa Negra, in Old Mexico.
We had the pleasure of attending the Buffalo Junk Car Races last Sunday where Burl Bourns was the featured Star of the
day. His '40 Ford was the fastest on the line-up.
Peggy Boyd has finally managed to secure the honor of carrying the United Nations flag in the Grand Entry of the
A, B. C. Rodeo. She is also running for Rodeo Queen.
Ronny Byers is trying to install a plan in the Roosevelt School where teachers will receive demerits instead of students
because his son, Sam, received ten demerits in one week.
Leslie Colleps has established a giggling emporium where obese people may loose weight by laughing it off. She gets
her customers to laugh by telling jokes and acting out the part of Juliet from Romeo and Juliet. If the laugh is not violent
enough to shake the customer, her faithful husband, James Chatman, tickles their feet or ribs to produce the desired
weight-losing laugh.
David Conn is now teaching minuet lessons at Roosevelt High School. He also owns the former Gene's Drive -In which
he has named "Shake, Rattle and Roll-In. "
Mrs. IL D, Hemmeline, the former Barbara Cox, flew her plane, in which she and her husband returned, from Italy
last week, where she helped him straighten the leaning tower.
Last week we visited Marilyn Crossland Sales' huge dude ranch in Lorenzo. The Sales' are not too wealthy today.
They only have one yacht, two 1965 Cadillacs, and a summer home in Idalou.
Wayne Crossland did not attend the homecoming. He has been touring the world on his motorcycle since graduation
night. This was his life's ambition.
Barbara Denning stopped by to see us on her way from Reno, where she has just received her tenth divorce. She is
planning to begin her first year at Tech this September.
Betty Dodds is happily married to the music professor at A, C.C. She is kept busy trying to teach her triplets to play
the ukulele.
The assistant to Dior in Paris is Freddye Hunter. She has recently designed the 1966 Roosevelt basketball suits. These
are really flashy suits. They are red with purple trimming.
As we were watching television in the study hall at Roosevelt School Friday evening, we suddenly saw- -no, it wasn't
a bird--nor a plane, but it was John fDonl Judd playing Supermouse.
W, D, and Milva Killian went to Dog Patch during the Easter vacation of 1955. There they decided they'd druther eat
druthers than anything, so they live there till now. Their children go to school with Lil Abe Yokum. W, D. 's promising
career as a farmer has turned into the preserved druther business.
Joan and Tommy McCallister and their three children, Gerald, Geraldine, and Pete, recently hitchhiked their way
back from the Riveria where they have been vacationing. The McCallister's now own the Acuff Gin where Joan serves as
Tommy's Chief bookkeeper.
Charles Mullins, who has tumed Democratic, is now living in the White House where he is teaching Eisenhower the
ways of a true democrat,
Ed Reynolds has developed a Texas Jumping Cotton seed, which like the Mexican Jumping Bean, has a worm inside.
This invention is not only useless but downright harmful. As a result he has been riden out on a rail to Dickens. But Ed
was always such a creative boy.
Roxie Searsy has patented The Deluxe Searsy Pout and is now manufacturing this comely pour for sale. It is guaranteed
to get the wearer anything he wants from most fairly reasonable people. Write to the Deluxe Searsy Pour, Searsy Pour,
Inc. . Dept. IOU, Acuff, Texas.
Pa Stewlart, the clown of the Senior class of 1955 has at last settled down to dignity and poise. Even though she was
known for er hilarity and guffaws at Roosevelt School, she is now the librarian at the Lubbock City Library for People
Who Can Read.
Gene Thomas recently startled the world with the announcement that the world is round, that gravity is a force pulling
everything in the atmosphere toward the earth, that fire burns, that ice is cold, and that he goes with Sylvia Railsback.
