' 'X Larry Johnson Vice President Jack Sharratt Treasurer Sue Zox Secretary June Senior Class 1957 Despite the liability of great size, the June 1957 class of Roosevelt High School united to be a large asset to the school in athletics, student government, and various extra- curricular activities in the past three years. Evidence of their great spirit and exuberance was the capacity-drawing presentation of their senior frolics, EH? , which was expertly staged, written, and directed by the members of the senior class. Like previous senior classes, the proverbial saying, Ours was the best frolics ever, echoed through the halls for several weeks after the performance. All departments of athletics, football, basketball, tennis, baseball, golf, and swimming, have felt the induence of the June class since as early as their sophomore year. The results were the capturing of many city series champion- ships and the outstanding representation of their school. The seniors were kept very busy during the last months of their high school careers attending parties, getting their senior themes in, and valiantly trying to retain or gain a high grade average. Continental was the theme of the first in a series of 12-A parties. The class picnic, held on the Roosevelt campus, climaxed the end of a fun-filled social series. Excellent speakers were chosen for the graduation ac- tivities the first week in June. The Reverend Ian McCrae, the pastor of the University Church of Christ here in Des Moines, delivered the class sermon. Dr. Mason Ladd, Dean of Law at the State University of Iowa, spoke at com- mencement on June 6. The Reverend Ervin Schlachten- haufen, father of class president, John Schlachtenhaufen, gave the invocation that same day. Also highlighting that week will be Class Day, the last production of the senior class as a whole, and the Senior Banquet to be held at Younkers Tea Room.
