The officers of the Varsity Club were picked at their first meeting. The club made a good selection choosing Eddie Nelson for club president. The qualification for being a member of this club is: being a boy who has earned a letter in a sport. One of the activities sponsored by the organization was the V-Hop. This was held in the latter part of February. The members of the club, in order to make money, sold pop, potato chips, and candy bars at some of the football and basket- ball games. The third project of the club was the sale of red and black beanies with ROOSEVELT BULLDOGS on them. This sale was a huge success and made a large sum of money for the club. The initiation for the new members of the club was held in November. Some of the things the new members had to do were: wear a red V on their forehead, take commands from old members and fin- ally to push a marshmallow across the gym floor with .their noses. The last one across the room had to eat the marshmallows. The club is sponsored by the two coaches, Mr. Scott and Mr. Parfitt. The coaches have done a wonderful job of bringing the sportsmen of Roosevelt together. 56
