We take you to the fateful month of September, 1949 when, after eight long and tedious years, we took our first step to freedom. We entered the freshman class of Roosevelt High School. On September 23 at 9:45 a.m., we elected our leaders. They were Jil Cicotte, presidentg Winston Suiter, vice-president, Betty Gordon, secretary, and Neal Saunders, treasurer. Our class sponsors were Mrs. Irene Delaney and Mr. Robert Beckman. That year we chose to save our money for future revolution As our plans for freedom swiftly progressed, we entered into our second step which was the soph- omore class. In September, 1950 we again elected our leaders for the ensuing year. They were Betty Gordon, president, Dale Cartier, vice-president, Beverly Martin, secretary, and Thelma Fritz, treasurer. In order to conceal our subversive activities, the class went on a hay ride, and a sleigh ride. While these happy events -were taking place, our underground agents advanced toward the third step of our dastardly deed. The sponsors, Mr. Hauk, ard Mr. Hofrichter, were busy helping us for the future. The class chose to attend Walled Lake for their final activity of the year. Thus ended step number two. The following year found us still plotting. We elected Ed Nelson as president, Beverly Martin as vice-president, Margaret White as secretary, and Connie Blainey as treasurer. The sponsors were Mrs. Johnston and Mr. Greenwood. During this year we held the annual Home-Coming Dance. We decided, as we had previously, to save our funds for the fourth and final step. As seniors, we worked swiftly toward our goal. Our sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Hauk and Mr. Cargo, aided us in founding our part cell. In the course of the functions of the students party, we established many traditions of the school which we hope will be handed down to other senior classes. The first of our traditions was the introducing of election campaigns. During our campaign we elected Comrade Larry Boes as premier, Lorraine Ramirez as Vice-Premier, Beverly Martin as Commissor of the Secretariat, Betty jane Reamer as Commissor of the Treasury, and Neal Saunders and Betty Vittone as Genrelissimos of Entertainment fby the leadership of these glorious heroes, we accomplished our endj. Our other traditions which we established were the Horne-Coming Dance and the Senior-Faculty Basket- ball Game in which, by political diplomacy we allowed the teachers to defeat us. These activities were merely more ruses to conceal our real purposes. In order to show our complete accord with the faculty, we showed great industry in preparing for our Senior Play. Through all these trials and tribulations we remained stalwart and upright in our cause. We made our final plans with our espionage agents on the night of the Senior-Junior Prom. We had already gathered our arsenal of weapons while on the Senior trip at Gaylord, Michigan. On the night of june 18, we at last overthrew the faculty and completed the glorious revolution. On that night, we graduated. Freedom was achieved. 15 5-l Adams, Richard Dick with his grand physique A nice guy who is always neat. The Home Ec Club was re-organized in Oct. of 1952, by Mrs. E. llauk. At the first meeting the girls elected officers, decided upon dues, and chose a committee to Write a constitution. During the first semester the girls had a hayride, and a Christmas party. Among the activities during the sec- ond semester was the Valentines Dance, a ceramic demonstration, a trip to Wayne County Health Department, and a fashion show, showing the change in clothing from grandma's day to modern times. To end the successful year, all the members went out for dinner and to a show. The junior Home Ec Club was first organized this year, by Mrs. Hauk. The club consist of only ninth graders. At their first meeting, the member elected officers to head the Council. The Council began its activities this year by giving the first dance in our new gym. The dance, which was named, 'Student Council Hop, was given in order to raise funds for the school paper, The Bulldogs Bark, and the Debate Club. The dance came of in great style and was a big success. The Student Council also drew up a set of recommendations for student behavior These rules conserned the hall problem, and the school lawn, Since our school building has been increased, the Student Council set up ai new schedule for hall monitors. More students have been placed on duty and this has helped greatly in the decrease of disorder in the halls. Throughout the year they have helped Schedule dances, given by the various clubs and classes. The officers of the Varsity Club were picked at their first meeting. The club made a good selection choosing Eddie Nelson for club president. The qualification for being a member of this club is: being a boy who has earned a letter in a sport. One of the activities sponsored by the organization was the V-Hop. This was held in the latter part of February. The members of the club, in order to make money, sold pop, potato chips, and candy bars at some of the football and basket- ball games. The third project of the club was the sale of red and black beanies with ROOSEVELT BULLDOGS on them. This sale was a huge success and made a large sum of money for the club. The initiation for the new members of the club was held in November. Some of the things the new members had to do were: wear a red V on their forehead, take commands from old members and fin- ally to push a marshmallow across the gym floor with .their noses. The last one across the room had to eat the marshmallows. The club is sponsored by the two coaches, Mr. Scott and Mr. Parfitt. The students have worked fairly hard, and most of them take their music instructors seriously. During the past year they have taken part in various programs. Such as: entertaining the parents, they took part at the Open - House at school, sang in the P. T. A. Christmas party at McNair, sang Carols for the students at Xmas time, gave a Spring concert and they will also sing for graduation. 'Die Chorus has visited the Masonic Temple, to listen to concerts twice this year. It was an evening of fun unfolded when Mrs. Wilson, acted by Lorraine Ramirez, and the Aunt connived to have Mary go to a dance with Wilbert Wiggins, while the boys arrange her a date with 'Muscles' O'Rourke. Miss Alstead Billings CBetty Vittonej enters the scene interviewing Mary, and adding calamity to the picture. Meantime Dad and Theresa are caught rehearsing for a local play. The boys pull off a stunt of impersonating a woman to add humor and the unbeliev- able outcome gave everyone a tale to tell for days. The price of the play was 754: for everyone and the s ' nett d ' eniors e a profit that was put toward their senior trip. ,neg ' K8 Bla 'Ls lohanna MEL HURT AND The Sporfsmen Phone LOGAN 2-3691 String Music. 6197 Marvin Ave Modern Jr Spuare Dancin g Dearborn, Mich if Bill Go ' es' U1-1 Connie EWG ay.
