Senior Class W ill- -1948 We, the Class of l948 of Rome High School of the County of Athens and of the State of Ohio, being of sound mind fthough some may have their doubts, and body, do hereby make, publish, and declare this as our last and best will and testament, hereby making all former wills, bequests and devices of what- ever nature or form heretofore made by us. We, the Seniors, do bequeath all battered and carved desks, and all dog- eared books to our jealous successors, the Juniors. We, the Seniors, do will all remaining broken hearts to the Sophomores. We, the Seniors, do will to the fatuous Freshmen our ability to blow bigger bubbles and chew gum faster than any other class in school. We, the Seniors, do send to all our teachers the best of wishes, one of which is that they may never have another class like us-for their sakes. I, Mary Eleanor Barnes, do will my typing ability to Betty Coen. I, Caroline June Frost, do will my long curls to Virginia Williams and Mary Esther Burch. I, Ruth Ann Miller, do will my smile to anyone who deserves it. I, Donna Jean Taylor, do will all but one of my boyfriends to Hazel Kinney. I, Betty Lou Boles, do will my appreciation for teachers to Doris Rodehaver. I, Patricia Ann James, do will my becoming freckles to Doris Coen. I, Jo Ann Webb, do will George Hyatt to Mary Esther Burch, 'cause she doesn't want him. I, Katherine Elizabeth Rizer, do will my ability to pull hair to Barbara Wood. 1, Myrtie Verdelle Stephenson, do will my gum and potato chips to Julia Brozak. Friedburg. do will three boxes of used spit balls to Eugene Hutchinson. !f,n.,- Pres. Vice Pres. Sec. Treas CLASS PROPHECY Dear Sir,---It seems that I'll never get any farther. I've been trying to write to the President to get permission for Susan Enevoldsen and I to go to Mars and establish a hospital for research there. One never knows how to write a business letter to a friend and I just must write this to Bob Ziegler now. I'll have to get permission from the governor of Ohio, too. I wonder who will get the election. It doesn't much matter to me who is governor since both candidates graduated in '48, Yes, Bill Rose and Junie Frost are still arguing politics. When will they stop? I remember how they always argued in P. A. D. Oh Yes, I'll have to see if we can get a seat on Benton Jones's Rocket ship. I hear that he is today's greatest explorer. As long as we are going to Mars we may as well stop at Pluto to watch .Io Ann in her new play. I just must have a new outfit. I think I'll go up to Mary Barnes' Fifth Avenue shop and see if Betty Boles can fit me in a new dress. I hope that I can get a dress to go well with the new lipstick I got an Donna .Tean's drug store. What an exciting shade- Donna's Up and Catch 'Em Lipstick. That reminds me, I saw Junior Burton in front of the .Tally Grill as I was going to Donna's and he was pushing a baby buggy with a dozen little Redheads running along behind. Oh the baby is the cutest child. He looks just like Patty. Virginia Wheaton and George Karl Ogg are married. George Karl had taken his father's janitor place at Stewart High School. Have you seen Floyd Dillinger lately? He owns the largest bank in the world and does he dress! My Goodness! Those muscles just bulge. Donald Poston was in the bank when I went in. He is still trying to decide what his future occupation will be and who his future wife will be. Hurry up and make up your mind Bud. Dale has a garage in the middle of New York. I-le has invented a modern- ized model A airplane. He swears that it is as much better than the rest of the airplanes as the model A car was better than the other cars. Katherine and Sammy have joined together in a world chain store called the Cousins and Burn. It is similar to the old Cussins and Fearn. Dale Parsons told me that Virgil Scott and Carmelita Pringle are married and Carmelita has her twenty-fourth child. s Bill Rose is still sitting back in the same seat at High School trying to catch a good picture of Mrs. Grogan. Robert Frost has written a long poem and had gone to Hollywood to supervise the filming of it. Verdelle Stephenson has followed the same New England suit and can't decide which man to take. But she has a pretty good idea. Remember Verdelle leap year comes every four years. Everett Mansfield has one of the largest farms in Ohio. He supplies Cincinnati with fresh milk. He seems to prosper although they say that he has had six wives. Oh dear, I.near1y forgot-I was to call Ruth Ann up and get an appoint- ment for her to set Susan's and my hair. I'm glad that we got to hear from all of the class before leaving. ' A PV? L1 ' f 15 . .Q Q U- . , v :L i 3- -Lf' I L , W -4 iii' lg. I certainly would. Well, here it is, already made out and ready for you to sign. Speaking of baseball, I have a baseball dog. What makes you call him a baseball dog? Because he wears a muzzle, catches flies, chases fowls, and beats it for home when he sees the catcher coming. Did you ever tickle a mule? No. You ought to try it sometime. You'd get a big kick out of it. Mother, I wish you'd do my arithmetic for me. Oh no, son, it wouldn't be right. Well, you could try, couldn't you? Who can tell me which pine has the longest and sharpest needle? The porcu. Your report should be written in such ag manner that even the most ignorant may understand it. Well, what part don't you understand? Unselfishness means going without something you need voluntarily. Can you give an example of that, Jim? Yessum. Sometimes I go without a bath when I need one. Is a ton of coal very much? Well, that all depends on whether you are burning it or shoveling it. What advantage do pajamas have over an old-fashioned night gown? Don't know. I've never worn pajamas over an old-fashioned night gown. I could swim the mighty ocean for one glance from your lovely eyes. I could walk through a wall of fire for one touch of your little hand. I would leap the widest stream for a word from your sweet lips. As always, Your Own, Junior P. S. I'll be over Sunday night if it doesn't rain. 5 -511 v X K X I ,. Rome, this year, is especially proud of it's record against the best teams in the league. In the county tournament Rome reached the semi-final round only to lose to Ames-B ern. J. T. and Hollister fell by the wayside as Rome swept toward the semi-finals. This year Rome will lose five players from the Varsity and two from the Reserves but we are sure future Rome teams will be inspired by the playing of this year's teams We bid farewell to Floyd Dillinger, Donald Poston, Bill Rose, George Ogg, and Virgil Scott of the Varsity and to Benton Jones, Bob Frost, of the Reserves. Back with us next year from the Varsity will be George Hyatt and Kenneth Goodfellow. Special mention sould be made in regards to our Reserves.
