The 1986 Delphian is dedicated to Janis Fieming We are told that no one is indispensible, but we are going to realize how close to that one can get when we lose Jan Fleming to retirement. Jan has been with this school district since its inception in 1961, and with Rolling Hills High School since 1967. She has been a part of this district as a parent and educator, as well as a highly com- petent secretary, first for the vice principal and since 1979, for this school ' s principal. This district has grown in many ways since that first year, but one thing that has remained constant has been Jan ' s attitude of getting the job done in the best possible manner. The word no is not in her vocabulary when it comes to helping resolve a need of the school. It is no exaggeration to say that Jan knows the how with regard to the running of every aspect of this education facility. Jan has had many opportunities to transfer to positions offering her more compensa- tion, but has always chosen to remain where her dedication has served best . . . sensitive to the needs of the students of our high school. She has contributed to the well-being of thousands of these students, directly or indirectly, and has always been committed to meeting the demands which must be met to attain their goals. Jan is a many faceted person, with a diversity of experience in business and education, and an extensive range of knowledge covering wide areas of interest. Those who have not had the priviledge of knowing her have missed someone very special ... a person who is witty and charming, sensitive and caring, intelligent and com- passionate. For those of us who have known this extraordinary person, we can be thankful for her friendship, and the opportunity to see lightning caught in a bottle! i«iif?r '
