After breaking up last year because of the lack of a sponsor, Key Club rejoined for the 87-88 school year and was stronger than ever. To kick off the school year, some of the Key Clubbers went to visit the children at Children,s Medical Center for Hal- loween. The Key Clubbers dressed up and had so much fun, they returned for Christmas and Easter. The next project was raising money for Paul White who had major surgery in December. The money was given to Paul as a Christmas gift from the Key Club. As their major Christmas project, the Key Club held a contest between classes to raise money for Christmas gifts for less fortunate children. As a incentive, a pizza patty was given to the class that raised the most money. CLUB Key Club 2 . Above: OFFICERS - Row One: Mrs. Garrett. Jenny Smith, Jenny McKinney, David Hoye. No one had met Coach Troy Miller as well as several other new assistant coaches. As the team prepared for their first day of practice, the Jackets had no idea what was in store for them. This was to be the year that the players, coaches, and the town would never forget. Rockwall vs. Granbury Q18-OJ The first game ofthe season we saw the Jackets host the Granbury Pirates. It was not very pretty, but it was a W in the column. Rockwall vs. Mt. Pleasant C6-75 The next game the Jackets lost to the Mt. Pleasant Tigers by a point. The Ti- gers scored after we did, but their extra 197 Football point proved to be the difference in the ball game. Rockwall vs. Sulphur Springs Q21-353 The third game of the season was a lesson for the Jackets. After falling be- hind by quite a large lead, the Jackets went out on a good note by scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter. Rockwall vs. North Dallas Q42-OJ The next game was against the dom- inating defense and fine-tuned offense of the North Dallas Bulldogs. Needless to say the Jackets rolled their helmets on to the field for this victory. Rockwall vs. Athens C28-145 The last game before the district was against the Athens Hornets for our Homecoming. Jackets came out on top A IVEWBE Rockwall vs. Ennis Q41-63 The Regional Championship was in store after the Jackets whipped an error- prone Lion team 41 to 6. Rockwall vs. Kilgore 134-211 The next playoff step was in the Quarterfinals against Cameron's Kilgore Bulldogs. The defense held E.D. Jackson, a top ranked running back, to under 100 yds. for another win. Rockwall vs. Sweetwater C13-63 All the way to State! The Jackets kept the Mustangs scoreless after they re- tumed the opening kickoff for a touch- down. With 2:08 remaining, the Mus- tangs threatened the Jackets, defense on third down on the 8 by trying to pass it in 28-14. ., . , gg ..................,,.......,..,- . . 5 , . - ' . ,,., .M.,,, ..
