Sportsmanship Award Received by Dwight Braswell Head Hunter THE HEAD HUNTER Football is a game of effort, courage, determination, hard work, and more often than not, pain. Any individual who chooses to play the game accepts these when he re- ports for practice. Some of these same in- dividuals, however, can not easily accept this necessary formula for winning football every day of every week of workouts. It was with these thoughts in mind that the head hunter was conceived, to give those persons who disciplined themselves to these necessary sacrifices for the achievement of their ultimate goal. The head hunter is given only to those people who are willing to give 100070 plus at all times. lt is a sign of an individual's accomplishments that are not measured by his talents alone. Each boy who earned a head hunter proved not only to himself, but to his peers, that he was willing to sacrifice whatever was necessary for the success of the team. Effort on the playing field, dur- ing practice, and the attitude toward the team's goal could be judged by the number of head hunters that were given to the 1963 AA STATE CHAMPS. People receiving this award for 1963 were the following: Gary Anderson, Kenny Terry, Marc Noel, Jackie Anderson, Mike McCal- lum, Billy Zachary, M. F. Fannin, -Steve Spafford, Woody Barnes, Tom Dooley, George Vaught, Harold Chenault, Randy Sparks, Dwight Braswell, Larry Harris, Steve Durham, Randy Lemons, Freddy Morrow, and Johnny Cullins. 2I
