belleve to be the most beautxful monument ln the clty The Pan American Blllldlllg was the second stop and there we saw a cool troplcal patlo complete wlth macaws and bananas The annual Washlngton Club pxcture was taken next and Charlle Butler through some trlcky runmng appears twice ln the plcture as you w1ll notlce We then toured our natlon s Capltol v1ew1ng wxth Interest the newly decorated Senate and House After dlnner we checked out of the La fayette and spent the afternoon at the Zoo At 5 00 pm we left for New York vla B Sz O We were served an excellent dmner en route and the Rockland Hlgh School car was a chaos as we approached New York There were slngmg dancing screammg water fights and Lord knows what else W1th many gasps of wonder we crossed the Hudson that evemng starlng open mouthed at the twmkllng llghts from horn evemng when we went out It dld not dampen our splrxts The slnful C1tV was stlll a wonderful place raln or shlne Thursdav mormng was free some slept some shopped and some explored Macys and Glmbels Saks and Bonds every big store was swamped wlth hlgh school students That afternoon we toured the N BC Stud1os and found them very mtrlgumg especlally the sound effects room and see mg ourselves on TV Our gulde Nancy was very personable and we llked her lm medlately Agaln we had a free evemng whlch was spent wlsely Some of us attend ed h1t Broadway plays House of Flowers and Kxsmet Others got together to cele brate our last mght ln New York Frlday mormng was free and IS was spent by the majorlty of the group ln bed recuperatlng In the afternoon we were herded around the corner to Radlo C1ty where we saw a magnlflcent Easter pag eant featurmg the Rockettes and the Corps de Ballet Some of the group attended the Yankee Red Sox game After the show we ate a rather dlsappomtmg meal at the Down Under Restaurant and then went on free tlme untll 9 00 At that tlme wlth much regret we checked out of the beau t1ful Taft and rambled across town to the tram We departed at 10 15 pm and danclng and other attempts at merrlment all of whlch were exhausted quite soon and sleep came at last As you may have guessed our phllosophv was to have a ball and so we did' Jan E Adlmann FOUR YEARS GONE BY Back ln mneteen fifty one We entered hlgh school rarmg for fun The senlors dressed us ln ribbons and bows And made us wear all sorts of clothes And ln the June of fifty two They dld graduate and leave our school The sophomore vear went zoommg b My oh my how the tlme dld fly' We worked and studied and had a hop' Belleve me frlend It wasn t a flop' Before we knew It twas fifty three Oh dear oh my oh Junlors are we' We started the work on the Jumor Prom Jan wlth Carol Joan Wlth Tom In Splte of the raln ln splte of the snow For this prom there was some profit to show The first thmg we knew It was fifty four Well what do you know onlv one vear more' Our semor year let me tell you Is really the year that went and flew Before I knew lt twas fifty five And be gorry Ma Im stlll ahve' Peter Armata LIMERICKS A certaln small book that I hate Whose knowledge IS comlng too late Has me tled up ln knots All I see there IS spots I wlsh Harbrace would drown ln a spate There was a famlly of slx The chlldren had plenty of llcks They crxed and they crled W1th each other they v1ed To see who got least of the stlck Joan Duncan , s, . . - I.. . . . .
