Kaufman, was presented by the senior class April 5 and 6 under the direction of Ade- line Hoegberg. The comedy arises when Tony Kirby, the son of the president of Kirby and Company becomes engaged to Alice Sycamore, a secretary employed by Tony's father. In an effort to unite the two families, Alice's family invites Mr. and Mrs. Kirby, T ony's aristocratic par- ents to dinner. All plans seem in vain, when the Kirby's arrive an evening too early, and find the Syca- more family in their usual state of confusion. After spending an uncomfortable evening, both families find themselves being herded off to the city jail because of a misunderstanding. When life seems darkest for the young couple, Grandpa uses a bit of philosophy to show Mr. Kirby, Tony, and Alice, that a happy marriage could result if the families would try to cooperate together. About to leave for a date at the ,Monte Carlo Ballet are Tony KDarwin Spearingj and Alice fJoanne Adesj. I7
