With these words, East High's auditorium, filled to capacity for all three performances, was transformed into the Indian territory, now Oklahoma. Under the direction of Lin- den Lundstrom and Adeline Hoegberg, the choral department presented the musical play, Oklahoma, by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The action centers around the romantic interest of two young lovers, Curly and Laurey, each concealing their love for the other. Curly, an Oklahoma cowboy, finds himself in love with Laurey, the niece Of Aunt Eller, a farm woman of the territory. Suspense is brought into the picture by the presence of Jud Fry, Aunt Eller's hired hand, who unlike Curly, does not try to hide his feelings for Laurey. Humor is added by Ado Annie, a foolish carefree girl, who always finds herself involved in a love affair with the fellow of the hour, first Ali Hakim and then Will Parker. The bitterness between Curly and Jud is brought to a cli- max when Jud, who has taken Laurey to a box social, is out- bid by Curly for Laurey's box lunch. Then Curly's love for Laurey becomes apparent, and their love prevails. Audience Captivated by 0kIahoma lVzll Parker KKen Staff!
