Pigskin Paia e Our boys came out of the 1939 scramble for football honors as co-champions of the Southwestern District of Wyoming. They were defeatedf only once in con¬ ference play, and that was by Kemmerer. Although we started the season as the big favorites, after the close shave at Afton—Tigers - 12, Afton - 7—the Rock Springs! stock went down. We were the underdogs thereafter against any supposed¬ ly strong team. Hotvever, the Tigers came out of the fray in excellent shape, win¬ ning seven out of ten hard-fought games. Let ' s take a glance at the score card for the season: Rock Springs Green River Chey ne Rock Springs Rock Springs Rock Springs Rock Springs Rock Springs Kemmerer Rock Springs 12 Afton 18 Rock Springs 7 Rock Springs 40 Lander 33 Evanston 25 Superior 13 Rawlins 14 Rock Springs 7 Green River 7 Won in the last six seconds on long pass. 13 Boys did not have spirit this time. 0 Well-played game, but we lost. 6 Everyone stood out in this game. 0 This was another good one. 6 Our best game of the year. 0 Our Homecoming game was successful. 7 Almost a goner until second half. 9 This one hurt; it’s a sore spot. 0 Reached the height of the season. Twelve seasoned seniors will be lost through the graduation route this year. These never-to-be-forgotten heroes of the gridiron are as follows: Stiteler, Maru- shack, Griffiths, Chambers, Erzen, Lee, Titmus, Shoopman, Milojevich, Bradbury. McQuillan, and Halsey. 26
