Delta Epsilon Alpha The DEA is a national honorary society for public speaking. It is the only fraternity of its kind for high schools. To be eligible the student must have grades of average or above. The student must have served his school in one of the following ways: Being on a debate team, orator, reader, or taking a major part in a three or four act play. The organization creates greater interest in public speaking and furthers and sustains its every effort toward advancement. In the fall they hold an initiation banquet and later a dinner dance. Both are outstanding social functions. The DEA officers are: Helen Hartney, President, and Robert Elliott, Sec- retary-treasurer. Tiger Club The purpose of the Tiger Club of the R. S. H. S. is to establish a. more perfect ideal of sportsmanship 0n and off the athletic field and to preserve and pro- tect the official award for major sports. The motto of the Tiger Club is: Fight to the last! Win! But win clean. This year their initiation was held on Monday, January 12, in the High School gymnasium. The club is composed of all boys in high school who have earned a letter in a major sport and whose grades are average or above. The new members are: John 'Duzik, Hugh Bates, Junior Greene, Elmer Maki, Aldo Dona, Angelo Anselmi, John Shuster, Harold Eagleston. The Tiger Club officers are: President, John DeBernardi; Vice President, Charles Travis; Secretary, Curtis Burrell; Social Chairman, Matt Ferlic. Get Acquainted Days Thursday and Friday, October 16 and 17, were Get Acquainted Days. Thursday each student received a tag in the form of a football which bore the name of the individual and the words, I am boosting for R. S. H. S. The purpose was to promote friendship. The two days ended by a free mixer held i11 the gym. 19
