The school was founded in 1865. Although its location has I changed, the institution has continued to grow in order to meet the edu- ' cational needs of the community through a century of growth. But our school has been more than just textbooks and homework. To its sons and daughters it has meant football games and proms, play practice and Barn- ' warmings, growth and maturity, as well as serious study and graduation. Yes, the last century holds many wonderful memories and accomplish- ments. But we must look to the future. It is with high expectation and profound faith that the Annual Staff dedicates the 1965-66 Bluejay to the next one hundred years. .. .--...- .--...- Nunn ...U 255355535 EE 9g9.... . They perform A many small tasks that the ordinary secretary does not do. These secretaries spend hours relieving the burdens of their employers by taking care of cor- respondence, meeting minor problems, balancing the books, and keeping the system generally in order. Younger Mrs. Scamman MI- Prather This year marked the first big step for fresh- men on the ladder to graduation. With it, they experienced two events which they will always re- member: County Government Day and Initiation. Initiation proved to be quite a day! Not one fresh- man will ever forget dressing as a baby and sucking a pacifier most of the day! Looking back, how- ever. they probably really had a lot of fun. At least the party following Initiation was with Jacque Gayle Reid and Gary Grubb claiming the royalty honors. County Government Day turned out to be Sponsor Sponsor the highlight of the year. That week before was a mad rush to make posters and campaign buttons, However, it was all worth it for the fun it produced! Building their first float also turned out to be full of fun and surprises by capturing second place with a truly beautiful float, Pulling for Victory . There were also classes of algebra, citizenship, English. and biology to always attend. Biology proved to be quite challenging by dissecting worms, frogs, and clams. 37 Freshman Snaps You can't expect everyone to pay atten- tion. ? ? Her students learned the words from their study of Mexico and Central and South America. They, as did Mrs. Peters' sixth grade, also studied Canada, on which they saw a series of films from the Canadian government. Mrs. Nixon made a reading project of Canada whereby each pupil read and reported on some feature, such as history or customs. Good use was made of the overhead pro- jector which made learning different and easier for the students. Much emphasis was also placed on the study of modern math and sources of power. Mrs. Nixon's class is proud of its bulletin boards, too, and pictures of these bulletin boards were included in an issue ofthe paper. Sixth Grade 0.95. , N. The pupils also had a small bulletin board on which three worked every month, each getting to help at least once during the year. As each class did, Mrs. ' Prather's students also did other art work, usually having to do with their lessons or special holidays. When they studied the unit on health, they had particular fun with foods---they got to make and taste many different foods. That certainly added interest to the school routine. . Sr' S 3 :QS B.
