' In l9h7-L8, the Bluejays tied in the Northwest Missouri Conference. - mean '4 26601 MARYVILLE -- September 17 We met our first and only defeat in the opening game of the season. Maryville 12 - Rock Port 7. AUBURN -- September 2b We romped over Auburn by a 33 to 18 score. It was the first time Rock Port had beaten Auburn in many years. It was also our first home game of the season. HAMBURG -- October l A safety for the Bluejays proved to be the winning margin in this exciting game. Both teams were prepared for a hard game and there was a lot of spirit built up in both towns for this contest. Rock Port 15 - Hamburg 13. SIDNEY -- October 8 On a slightly muddy field, the team turned on their steam and powered their way to a 26 to 6 victory, over Sidney. TARKIO -- October 15 Tarkio, our greatest rival, invaded Rock Port only to see the 'Jays hand them a 27-7 defeat. SAVANNAH -- October 22 On a field that was like rock because of lack of rain, the Rock Port offense got off to a rather bad start but soon pulled away to a 33 to 20 victory. ESSEX -- October 29 At last the rain came! About three inches of the wet stuff. Without regard to the rain the teams played the game with very few spectators on the sidelines. When the players got tired of running, they dog-paddled awhile. The mud and water hampered the offense of both teams with the result that no one had scored when the last quarter opened. Then the Bluejays finally plunged their way to the goal line for the winning touchdown. Rock Port 7 - Essex O. A PERU - November 5 Rock Port returned to the more conventional type of game to prove their might. Peru found the going rough and bowed to Rock Port by a 26 to 13 score. LAFAYETTE - November 12 In the final game of the season, the Rock Port team defeated a very good Lafayette team. It was the first time that Rock Port had ever beaten Lafayette. The Blue- jays made touchdowns in almost every manner the first half and had a 26 - O lead when the second half started. Then Lafayette displayed their might but could not catch up.
