The VOCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT PRO¬ GRAM (V.I.P.) is a unique opportunity for students, who otherwise might quit school, to get an education. The pro¬ gram consists of a student-run store and two classrooms. The students enter V.I.P. with the idea of earning a high school diploma while earning money with a part time job. This requires flexibility for the stu¬ dent to change his class schedule if his working hours are changed The atmo¬ sphere at the V.I.P. store school is re¬ laxed, allowing for informal activities be¬ tween classes, and close student-teach¬ er interaction. This type of arrangement meets the students immediate needs, and makes getting an education much more meaningful to them.
