meet mr. murphy Mr. John T. Murphy comes to RIHS after three years as Assistant Principal of Sycamore High School, Sycamore, Illinois. Mr. Murphy understands what it is to be both a teacher and a student. From 1968 to 1970 Mr. Murphy taught social studies at Dubuque Senior High School, Dubuque. Iowa and he currently is completing the requirements for his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. As his first year as principal ends, Mr. Murphy deserves praise for a job well done. The new discipline policy, because it has been consistent, practical and strict, keeps the school’s operations running much smoother. Mr. Murphy, through¬ out the year, has been highly visible; patroling the parking lots, eating in the cafeteria, attending school functions. We are lucky to have him at RIHS. Ludwig Albrecht. Ind. excitement in english Gifted students face boredom that leads to frustration when they find them¬ selves in academically mixed classes. For their own sake, as well as for society’s sake, these students need special stimulus forcing them to fulfill their potential. RIHS provides an excellent three-year program, taught sophomore year by Ruth Jones (bottom right), junior year by Ruth Brauch (top right), and senior year by Marie Gillette (below). Students completing the program, as well as their col¬ leges, firmly attest to the value in English through this Advanced Placement program. Ronald Ballard. Biology Arthur Banfield. Voc..
