The Band Goes Marching On Drum Major Tina Bull looks pensive. Miriam Anderson sings " Give me a Little Kiss, Will ya Huh? " to Band Director, Mr. Holcomb. Pride and spirit are two words to describe the " Marching Rocks. " Besides presenting half-time shows for all of the football games and performing in parades in the area, the band also marches competitiv- ly in other cities. They appeared in the Band Day parade at the Uni¬ versity of Illinois and brought back the Third Place trophy from the Morris Corn Festival Parade and captured the First Place award at the Western Illinois University Homecoming Parade for the second time. 1976 being an election year, the band had the opportunity to play for two major political candi¬ dates, Jim Thompson and Jimmy Carter. Color gaurd consists of Evivian Smith, Lisa Hall (hidden), and Teri Sykes. Scott Boyer plays while marching in step with the band.

I And On, And On, And On The members of the band show Jamie Hill how music should be played. The face of Marty VanBlair is found behind the shining trumpet section. Concert Band Looking impressive in new concert uniforms, the band is divided into two different groups when they perform: The Concert Band, Band, and the smaller and more select. Symphonic Winds. There are several concerts presented each year, including a Pops Sup¬ per-Concert in February. In addition, the band gives other concerts during the year, both in Rock Island and in other cities. They participate in a solo and ensemble contest. The ac¬ tivities do not end until the final day of school when the band performs for the Commencement exercises.
