Rock Island was the host school for the second annual Quint-City Student Leadership Seminar at the John Deere Administrative Center, which was attended by over three hundred students from nine area High Schools. October saw the Senate spon¬ soring a great week of Home¬ coming activities, culminating with the Homecoming Dance. Senate was a major supporting force in the passage of the long-awaited and much needed school tax referendum. On No¬ vember 12th, the Senate held a well attended, old-fashioned square dance in the school ca¬ feteria. Many needy families received help from the success¬ ful Thanksgiving and Christmas projects. Senators worked for and contributed to such worthy causes as the Mental Health Association and Presidential Classroom. At Christmas time it was the door-decorating con¬ test and the first annual Rocky- Alleman Christmas dance on December 19th. In February, Senate sponsored a week of ac¬ tivities centered on a Valentine theme. This year ' s Sweetheart Swirl was held March 5th at the Y.W. C.A. Another innova¬ tion from this year ' s version of " student government that works " was the long sought-af¬ ter Student Day held March 25th. The Senate wound up one of its busiest years ever with the Junior-Senior Prom on May 23, 1977. Pictured at the Quint-City leader¬ ship Seminar are: Alleman ' s Bill Warlop, Ann Stradley, Alleman ' s Colleen Kale, Mr. Ackerson, Cin¬ dy Boeye, and Terry Gorsuch.
