Driver’s Ed Strives to Produce Better Drivers In a seemingly endless effort to produce better drivers, the Driver Education department combined their skill together with a new instructor, Mr. Del Nicklaus. Before this year’s students got behind the wheels of their new 1974 cars supplied by local deal¬ ers, the staff found it necessary to emphasize and interpret the new traffic signs. More visual aids on motorcycling were shown to make this year’s stu¬ dents more aware of its handling and operation. Band Has New Director Dr. Paxcia thinks that keeping up the school spirit is part of the band’s job. This fall the band stayed for the entire game, instead of leaving at halftime. They also played at an away game for the first time, travel¬ ing to Galesburg, and introduced a new halftime format. The band played for the opening of the new Inter¬ state bridge in October and at the last home football game they hosted the Purdue band. Vo Tech Serves City The students who attend class in the Vo Tech building do everything from changing oil to painting cars to overhauling engines. Students, teachers, and people from the community all bring their cars to Rocky to be serviced. The director, Mr. Kline is in charge of the VIP pro¬ gram at the “Y”. Last year 11 students received high school diplomas. VIP now has prospective students on a waiting list for openings in the classes and Mr. Kline is considering doubling the present enrollment of 40 students.
