Human Rights Concerns Senate This year Senate has at¬ tempted to educate itself in the process of change. Run¬ ning into many stumbling blocks, the Senate started to reexamine itself. Eighty differ¬ ent viewpoints attempting to work together seemed to make little headway. As they battled trivia, the Senate tried for more power. Discouraged Senators spread their apathy to the students. To the administration the Senate still played its token role as the voice of the student . With a revised constitution and a bet¬ ter understanding of parli- mentary procedure, the Senate may now be better equipped to forge ahead. 1. One of The Senate ' s projects this year, was selling Rocky boost¬ er buttons. 2. Sophie Senators enjoy the responsibilities of being a Senator. 3. Heading the Senate are it ' s officers: LEFT TO RIGHT: President, Guy Stevenson, Trea¬ surer, Susie Brooks, and Secretary, Kim McGinnis. Eight Students Receive Leadership Recognition Special honors are one aspect of school life that for the most part have not been affected by any major change. The D.A.R. award is given by the Daughters of the American Revolution to a senior girl for outstanding citizenship. Leader¬ ship and responsibility are traits of the Girls and Boys State representatives. A select group of junior Marshalls were honored by leading the graduating class of ' 72. 1. Don Cochran, Debbie Chappell, Rhonda Wisely, and Dan Williams lead the way for the seniors as 1972 Jr. Marshalls. 2. DAR award winner for 1972-1973 is Susie Brooks. 3. Girls and Boys State representatives are Dave VanSevern, Joan Schmitz, and Don Cochran. Honors 23
