Scrapbook Memories Are Collected Watchtower is an organization dedi¬ cated to scrapbook memories, preserv¬ ing the best of the past. A record of and for the individuals, searching for the new, the different, the unorthodox, the staff suffers sleepless nights, and ex¬ haustion to the point of corny outlines and missing mugs. A statically hectic atmosphere, built on bleeding, cropping, writing, counting picas, recounting picas, and always rac¬ ing the clock, is a perpetual way of life in the workroom on third floor. Watch- tower 1972 is created by co-workers striving for the best. 72

Teens in Orchestra Give Many Performances in ' 12 During those long, dreary seventh pe¬ riods when many students grasp the op¬ portunity to escape drudgery of school life, some students escape another way; during seventh period, members of the Woodwind Choir and Brass Choir work out, musically. The woodwinds and brasses take this time to get together and rehearse for ensemble work. They are smaller divisions of the Rock Island High School Orchestra. Long hours of tedious and meticulous practice are needed to master any musi¬ cal instrument, whether it be a cello, trumpet, or cymbols. Headed by Cindy Mason and Damon Short, The Rock Island High School Orchestra held several concerts. The first was in November, the next in January, and a concert with the glee club was held in spring. The orchestra also functions as the musical backup to the spring musical. Material presented this year ranged from classical to contemporary, and came under the direction of Mr. Hart. ABOVE: Orchestra members are FIRST ROW: A. Collins, E. Anderson, G. Berg. J. Soltow, S.
