Bands Play for Listening Enjoyment Upon arriving on the school grounds any autumn morning. Rocky students will inevitably find themselves marching into school, perfectly in step with the Rock Is¬ land Marching Band. Practice makes per¬ fect and so the band unites in song and music every morning, whether in the class or on the field. Because of its large membership, the band has separated into two groups, the Symphonic Band and the Concert Band. Smaller groups are formed within these. The Pep Band, Brass Choir and Wood¬ wind Choir consist of the finest performers in those fields. The band is most often heard providing half-time entertainment at football games or adding to the excitement at basketball games. Members of the group planned a trip to Chicago to view a musical. The band presented two concerts and per¬ formed in the annual homecoming parade. Last year, the group was asked to per¬ form at the ceremony for the dedication of Rock Island ' s new sea wall.
