Cooperative Work Training. Diversified Occupations. Spending one half of a school day attending classes—the other half working on a supervised job— offering valuable training during on-the-job hours. Enriching their knowledge for employment after graduation. Rock Island businesses allign with RIHS in creating job openings for students. Two credits a year give each member valuable graduation points. Social events include a fall picnic, Christmas party and a weiner roast. Bringing the year to a close is an employer-employee banquet. Students in Mr. Bevill ' s morning class prepare for future opportunities with job training. CWT and DO Classes Provide Experience Susie Hixon is working at the Argus. The morning CWT class, taught by Mrs. Nelson, learns the technique of working on the job. 62

The Young Republican cabinet includes L. Dalkoff, D. Phelps, M. Cloninger, S. Swedburg, M. Noble, M. Putney, Nancy Knanishu relaxes at a Republican Party. ]. Cochran, D. Williams, R. Phelps, C. Clark, S. Madsen and j. Miller. Rocky ' s Elephants Promote Election Ideals Young Republicans. The elephant party. A club Encompassing political ideas and party aspirations. Campaigning—convincing. Passing out literature. Handing leaflets to passer-bys. Licking bumper stickers. Door-to-door salesmanship of prospective candidates. Meeting their party ' s nominee at the airport and greeting him with Republican fervor. Baking and selling their goods at the " Groovy Bake Sale " — to help support their efforts. An election night: waiting, watching, anticipating. The final results relaying important " party " information. In victory or defeat Rocky ' s elephants establish election night sportsmanship. Young Republicans: the molders of tomorrow ' s political parties. Young Republican officers are Debbie Phelps, Roy Phelps, Carol Clark and Debbie Williams.

Mrs. Nelson ' s afternoon CWT class learns through classroom and working experience. Stocking the shelves is one of Jerry Lange ' s many responsibilities at Newberry ' s. Claudia Hallas poses by a new car while working at Sexton Ford. Thad Johnson gives TLC to a patient at St. Anthony ' s. Mr. Bevill ' s class meets afternoons to discuss working problems.
